If the current owner of this car ever gets told by some knob jockey that cylinder heads 2815843 with casting date 27F3
were only available as an over the counter spare part and that his original 20F3 cylinder head has been changed then
I hope he tells the jockey to grow a brain .

Just because the car has a dual cast date block does not automatically guarantee 100% it is the original block.

Hi Redzone,
A previous owner who fitted these wheels described them as Aunger Hustlers on the day he fitted them. This was written in a journal he kept of everything he did to the car. He bought them from MS McLeod Tyres. So I was wrong, they were not ROH Wildfire.

Hi Kockum,
I believe that this head 27F3 is the correct head for this car. It also has a rough largish scratchy 9 H cast a bit further along from the cast date to rear of the head. Anyone know what the 9 H means.
Pete.

Hi Pete ,
same as my cylinder head barring inlet valve size.
The question I would like to put forward is : Did any LJ GTR XU-1 built in July, August or September 1973 have the larger inlet valve fitted to them in production when leaving the factory ? Under amendment 9/2E a larger inlet valve was homologated along with a new cylinder head which was available as an assembled or unassembled unit, these heads also had a revised over all height. Holden Part number 9934042 ( Assembled ) 9934044 ( Unassembled ). Inlet valves Holden part number 9934043.
According to the information I have been given, Dave Bennett, the guy responsible for doing the work on these heads, did not start on them until September 1973 and was still doing them when he received the first batches of L34 heads in 1974.
Can anyone prove to me that any production July, August or September built LJ GTR XU-1 had factory fitted larger inlet valves.........

Firstly, I would like to apologize to Kockum for the misinformation I have given previously about these heads. You are 100% correct with what you state ( Even the knob jockey bit ) The information I was given from a very reliable source stated that the C233 7H & 20F3 8H were production heads and 27F3 9H 10H 11H 12H were spare parts ( 100% correct ) Were I have muffed up was that the 20F3 9H & 27F3 9H were also used as production heads and not just as spare parts. The 9H was used as both a production head and also as a spare part in both the 20F3 & 27F3...........

Are both 20F3 & 27F3 big inlet valve heads, or only the 27F3. Does the 9 H mean anything or does it just signify a version.

A list of 1972 and 1973 LJ GTR XU-1 heads I have collected over the years :
M21 : 1H, 2H.
E172 : 5H, 6H, 7H, (8H).
H252 : 9H, (10H, 11H, 12H).
L32 : 11H, 12H.
C233 : 3H, 7H, (9H, 10H).
20F3 : 8H, 9H, (10H)
27F3 : (9H, 10H, 11H, 12H)
The ones in brackets are what I believe to be the spare parts........
They range in numbers from 1 to 12 (H)........
