hi, i have just dummy fitted the 283 and muncie into my lj,it all sits in the bay quite well ,the only real issue i can see is there is frock all room for the clutch fork ,it will hit the tunnel ,i don,t want to modify the tunnel so i have decided to use a hydraulic throwout bearing,i can get a mcleod hydraulic throwout, which should be a straight bolt on fit to the muncie, has anyone used these, what size m/cyl should i use ,are there any issues i need to be aware of with this set up,cheers Rodney

Haven't used a McLeod but they're supposed to be a good brand, had a Tilton one which worked great. Tilton actually make one specifically for a Muncie which has a replacement front bearing retainer which the thrust bearing screws on to, a bit pricey but nice unit.

As long as the master cylinder is suitably matched and you can access the bleed nipple there aren't really any problems you can run across.

I've used the quartermaster before
Both on Toploader and TKO boxes
Both we used a .7" master cylinder as this was recommended to us as the correct size to use based on our pedal ratios and throw requirements

For the TKO (Marks orange targa hatch) we used an AP Racing cylinder
For the Toploader we used a VL 6 cyl clutch master and sleeved it to .7" and used the piston out of a cheapish available cylinder
That one was in a VK Brockodore

I run a Mcleod hydraulic throwout bearing with a .75" master cylinder. No issues and its been there for 10 years.

I have the clutch working with the McLeod hydraulic throwout but I have a problem that I hope some one can solve for me

sometimes but only sometimes when I engage the clutch for say about 5 to 10 seconds  it dumps it's fluid on to the ground and begins to move off,

it only seems to do this when it is cold,i thought that it might have been overstroking,so I fitted a new seal kit to it and fitted a pedal stop,

it is not overstroking but the frocken thing still dumps fluid now and then,it's really giving me the shits ,any ideas on what it may be or things to check

cheers rodney
