Genuine Brabhams are pretty thin on the ground, but I wouldn't pay that much for one. My 2c.

The model number 86211 is unique to the Series 2 Brabham.
The black around the snout is an identifying feature of the Series 2, the Series 1 Brabhams had a stripe going up the centre of the bonnet.
The only thing that appears wrong in the pictures, is those SL badges, I don't believe that they should be there. the Series 1 Brabhams were basically an option (XS5) which was available on both the S & SL models, so they had either of those badges. The Series 2 Brahams were a separate & distinct model above the SL & shouldn't have any S or SL badges.

I believe it should have as a series 2 the LC plastic type lower dash and lid.

1. SL Badges (as mentioned in the above post).
2. The lower dash control panel is a Series 1 item as mentioned by LC870, although I believe that the glovebox is correct.
3. Series 1 steering column (early blinker switch), although steering wheel is correct.
4. Seat trim pattern is Series 1.
5. SL belt mould trims along lower side panels shouldn't be there.
6. No Brabham gear knob.
7. Brabham Torana badge on rear panel mounted too high.
8. Shouldn't have trim rings, whitewalls or LC fuel cap, although these could've been added at any time.
If it wasn't for the authentic looking (& seemingly untouched) ID plates with correct Series 2 Brabham ID, I would think it was just a Series 1 SL with a few Series 2 & Brabham bits bolted onto it.
I don't want to sound too harsh here, but if your trying to sell a car of this type (with a reserve above $10,000) it should be the real deal.

"The Brabham Torana has the same equipment as the Torana 'S' two-door model except for the following equipment, which is exclusive to the Brabham Model"
- Tachometer and full instrument gauges replacing warning lights
- Glove box lid is black with chrome surround
- Carpet on front and rear floors
- Prismatic-type rear vision mirror
- Console between front bucket seats
- Arm rests incorporated in rear quarter trim
- Simulated woodgrain steering wheel with centre horn button
- Polished wooden gearshift control knob with Brabham emblem
- Brabham Torana nameplates replace Torana 'S' nameplates
- Distinctive rally blackout exterior paint treatment
"Released alongside the other revised 1969 models in Sept 1968, the Brabham was to now have its own model designation rather than being an option on either the 'S' or 'SL' models. The Brabham was allocated its own model number, 82811 after the startup of the Series II. Parts Catalogues were never corrected and continued to use the 82411 designation. Brabhams were essentially an S model and used the 'Sadlon-Griffin grain' material."
In principle I agree with Dr Terry Series I SL with Series II parts painted to resemble a Series II Brabham

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought 82611 was the Series 1 Brabham model designation and 82811 was the Series 2.
On second thought, Model No. 82611 doesn't identify it as a Brabham, only as an SL.

Yes, you are correct, that was my error 82611 is only an SL.On second thought, Model No. 82611 doesn't identify it as a Brabham, only as an SL.
That means hat this car is basically just a Series 1 as evidenced by the seat trims & lower dash & as an SL, by the badges & side mouldings.
The only 'Brabham' items are the instruments, carbies & badges, plus a bit of black paint.

As for the instruments, I believe they are out of an LC GTR, the 2" gauge bezels appear to be black not chrome and it also looks like it may have a 120 mph speedo. AFAIK the Brabham only had a 100mph speedo.

G/day Dr Terry
Nah my eyes aren't that good anymore, it's just that the numbers on the speedo seem to be too close together to be a 100 mph dial.

Nah mate it's all yours if you want it.
If it was going for 4k to 6k then maybe, but at 23k, she hasn't got a hope in hell of getting it LOL.
Also have to shell out for a shed to store it in.
Cheers
Dave.
