If built right it will be fine, most people just find it easier to use over-kill materials and not worry about engineering it too carefully. Triangulate the main parts where bend or twist loads are applied, and ensure that attachments spread the load over over a reasonable area. It will likely pull out of shape more with welding but not exactly a precision piece of equipment.

You don't need anything heavier than that! That material will be shitloads big enough, if used half intelligently.

Most of the fabrication and rust repairs I know about are now done and guards are cut for the flair kit. Next is to get her down to blasting, fingers crossed I don’t find too many new issues.
