Coming up on 14 years for my A9X sedan. First major purchase after completing uni and getting that first fulltime job (actually still with the same company, but different role now). 6-8 months later I came across another, unfortunately I had the cash but not the space to store it, and now I have more than enough space for 2 or 3 more but not the cash given the prices :-(

coming up to 27 1/2 years
went looking for a LX SS 5.0 LTR
drove one from a car yard
a white one and hummed n harred?
sister found an ad in the local sunday paper
late one sunday afternoon in january 1985
she asked what an A9X was?
i said don't worry about it cos if it was genuine
it would be gone!!!!!!!!
she persisted and i grabbed the only magazine
that i had that an article on A9X's with pics
and off i went
i could see the rear disc brakes as i drove up
and thought this was a positive sign
looked at it and bought it
took all the numbers, got a receipt,
and off i went to get a bank loan
checked with revs for any encumberances
and did the deal. $7500.00
then the ol buggers father made me pay
$200.00 for the original wheels complete
with dunlop aquajets or aquaplanesPosted Image
and the unused DR70H14 spare
i'll never procrastinate again.

Hey guy's this is a great read..an Big Jack(John) i loved your story..and the "before an after" photos are great.

gtr xu1..is that green fairly rare..must say i havent seen that colour in a gtr before ..noice!

When i was looking for a hatch there WAS one in Adelaide..a 77 LX SS Hatch 4.2 lt auto(wanted manual) Metalic Light Green,it even had the "hatch hutch"!!!
but they wanted too much money ..even back then.

Over the years(journey)i've thought twice of selling mine..once when i was unemployed for a while and another due to illness(cancer) but we've got through that so i'll never sell it unless something else befells me!

cheers Tim

I was talking to my neighbour's daughter who was a bit of a car girl one day in early 1994 and we got talking Torana's, I said i regretted selling my old Mustard LJ GTR back in the late 80s wishing I still had it.
After some more discussion she said her cousin had an original LC GTR at home which he was thinking of selling, she said it was black and white.
I didn't think anymore of it until later that week she knocked on the door with his number.

I called him, $3000 later and a temporary permit drove it home.......

In the time I have owned the car it has remained as it was when I purchased it, apart from some minor work.
I decided the time had come to give the old girl a little clean up so I have pulled out the engine and trans which BullitLJV8 is currently rebuilding and have taken the car to have some minor rust repairs carried out.
Hopefully it will be all back together in time for a drive to Bathurst in October.......??

Bought mine in October 1990 for $400 off a mate of mine.
That night my Dad and i cut all the cable ties and wire holding the 202 engine in (Literally as one engine mount was broken) and sold the motor three days later for $500!!
Thought i was a genious!
Needless to say the only time ive made a profit rfom the bloody thing.
22 years in October.
I have a photo at home from the day i towed it home and put it out the front.
Beautiful antelope brown with aerosol can black stripes!
Ill have to find said photo and put it up for a laugh.

I bought my XU-1 25 years ago. A fter driving it a bit for 5 years it spent 16 years under a tarp for variouis reasons. I put it back on the road about 4 years ago and enjoyed driving it around. Now it's back under a tarp and used to go drag racing when time permits.

Well I've had my SLR/5000 now for 15yrs . I've also have a HB 2 door that I bought in 1985 for $90.00 with a roady I might add . I turned that into a Sport Sedan & did club sprints with . Started with a mid mounted 202 , then I stepped it up to a 265 Hemi. Also had a 4 door LJ 173 4spd , I that bought in 1983 sold it 1987.Ende up with company car(spewin)should've sold Commodore. Geezz what a fun car the LJ was .So the 5000 at the moment is in the middle of a heart transplant
it's getting heart from a VN GRP "A" . Attached File  WP_000152.jpg   116.9K   6 downloads
