What years do these relate too
Might have something to do more with ADR27 v's ADR27A than the transmission

But... I'm unsure so I'll not be providing any answers BS or otherwise

It doesnt state in this particular book if its post or pre Adr27A.
I know in early commodores the 5lt manual version doesnt run an EGR
Im after info on ADR27A as mine is affected and having to take it to the EPA for an inspection im trying to eliminate any unnessary work

Interesting, the Ellery's Commodore (VB through to VK) workshop manual indicates that all 6 & 8 cyl engines, with the exception of the 4.2L manual, had the EGR valve.

All Manual ADR27A V8 cars had the EGR deleted. That document is wrong.

That PDF is the same as is in one of my GMH service books. The Red 173 manual trans definitely didn't have an EGR, but i have conflicting info from several sources on the V8's.

That PDF was from the GMH emissions manual, but looks like another error to add to the list of errors in the GMH service manuals. Top job guys, so much good info on this forum Cheers

However.... if there is no written evidence from Holden to ammend the fact the document is wrong... and rego/EPA use that as their evidence to support... you have to do as it says since its hard to argue it without proof

Right ?

I think we are safe in the fact tat the only people who know what an EGR valve is is late 70's - early 80's Holden owners.

The emission control applications pdf shown in post 8 appears to be an early edition.
The edition that i have is part No. M38066 ISBN 0 909989 91 5 Revised March, 1978 and supercedes part No. M37826.
The Section 2 chart in this edition shows:

LX/HX/HZ MANUAL 4.2 & 5.0 engines NO EGR Valve.

lx/hx/hz auto 4.2 & 5.0 engines WITH EGR Valve.

lx/uc & hx/hz all L6 engines, both manual and auto WITH egr valves.

Cheers,
Daryl.

The one i have is M37826 so i will use this and take it with me,
They really arn't up on this nitty gritty stuff when i presented our other car earlier this year to the epa station they asked me to put a hose on the charcoal canister where it would normally go to the carby on a 6cyl and a 4.2 lx. where a 5lt carb has no provision for the canister to connect to,
Showed them the book and went HUH UM WELL DUNNO.
