So cool..... I often toy in my dreams of putting a 2 door lj over a wrx ...... Living the dream, reliability, speed, handling and traction!

I wish I could get a project moving as quick as you have looks like it took you a day to do the lot haha, killer job mate, I'm guessing you've done a bit of this sort of work in the past. I can't wait to see this thing done

Cheers

Greenmachine215, yes i have done a bit of this before, some of my other projects. turbo hatch http://www.gmh-toran...tch-rb30-turbo/
lx sedan http://www.gmh-toran...eft-over-parts/ hj van http://www.gmh-toran...7-hj-panel-van/

Started fitting the gear box and trans tunnel, this is the bit that worries me because of the amount of floor that needs to be cut out.

This is the monster that i have to fit.

You can see how much needs to be cut out.

Fitting the gtr floor, it follows the torana floor fairly closely.

cool, so whats the go with the floor. will you use the skyline one for measurements and make something up, or actually use the skyline tunnel? and as for the rest of the bits your fitting up, do you just tack them in and show it all to the engineer(he obviously knows you can weld) and then weld it all into another shell?

I will be using the skyline floor, yes just tacking it all into this shell to show the engineer. He did give me the go ahead to do

it in the hatch but i thought it would be safer if i set it all up in in another old shell and show him exactly what i plan to do.

I would hate to do all this to the hatch then find out he wouldn't pass it, so the time and effort i spend on the old shell will be

well worth it in the long run.

Wow. that is a monster tunnel. I love these types of builds, modern driveline and underpinnings in an older car.

You obviously have the skills to do it well too.

Shortened the steering column and made up a shaft between the torana steering knuckle and the skyline one.

Harvesting more parts. Looking at trying gtr R33 rear subframe instead of the R32.

I'm trying the R33 rear end for a few reasons. Yes they are 10mm wider and better geometry, the arms give a bit more clearance

to the chassis rail. Also the front mount on the R33 lower arm is horizontal with the subframe.

Top arm is R33 the bottom is R32

No real updates. Looking at using a stand alone system from Full Race to run the ATTESA system (centre diff torque split controler),

and using a vipec v88 for the engine management. One thing i have found is vic roads is refer to VSB14 so i should talk to the engineer again

to make sure he is still happy with what i am doing.

Had the engineer come up the other day and have a look at it, he was happy with how i have planned to do the conversion.

He is happy for me to use an after market ECU but he does want me to run a catalytic converter even though the RB30 i am using

came from a nissan patrol which didn't run a cat. It will have to pass a basic emissions test. He dosen't need to see the car again until

everything is tacked in the hatch. Not much more work will happen on this project now until i finish painting the doors and guards on

the LX sedan, hopefully i will have that done and on the road by march.

Started setting up the rear end on another floor pan to make it easier to put it into the hatch. Cut up the lower trailing

arms and welded them to the sub frame as the front mounts and using some 50x50x5 angle for the rear mounts.
