Yeah that angle looks a bit odd but from a practicality standpoint it will be awesome, it'd be great to let the light in!

Got the hinges worked out and modified the cowl to fit around the hinges and put a return fold on it so I can still seal the plenum from the engine bay.

Took the torana back off the rotator to refit the panels to check gaps with the VE hinges.

Also modified the rotator, moved the mounting points to better suit the centre of gravity.

I knew the passengers side sill have some bog in it, so stripped it out. Now I need to workout how i'm going to tackle it.

Cut the sill off and gave it a bit of a tap, think it will be good enough to reuse.

I wonder how it could have been damaged in that way in the first place. Had it been pulled out with a slide hammer and the holes welded up?

I know some stories of it's previous owners, it's had a hard life. One side was put into a power pole and repaired i think the side hit a tree and repaired, all done as cheaply as possible.

Early on in it's life they used to go shooting standing through the sunroof. Just before I brought it the nose cone was flattened from jump staring it.

They didn't wire up the ignition cutout on the shifter, started it in drive and with the 3000rpm stall it sat there until he lent over and gave the carby a big flick.

Only a few scratches on the Navara bull bar, flattened the nose cone pushed the top of the radiator in, the guards were only sitting on there with no bolts, so luckily they just flew off.

Sounds like the treatment I gave my old hatchback. It never jumped really well though. Too nose heavy.

How dare you suggest that Torana's were once treated poorly Brad. :)  The exhaust on this XU1 was glowing right to the end of the muffler. It was held flat for minutes.

Finished most of the tapping on the body so now looking to take it to Recoat Paint Stripping to get the body dipped.

Also made a new dolly to move the body around which will allow  me to roll it up on my car trailer which has an open centre.

The motor has been dropped of at JPC to get built and also dropped off the seats to start getting them trimmed.

I'm using Customized Auto Trimmers in Shepparton to do the seats. The door trims, roof lining, tops of doors and B pillar are from Cools Auto trim.

Got some epoxy on the shell, need to put it back on the rotisserie to make it easier to finish off the rest.

The shell has been coated in easy phos and I was advised by the paint supply shop to sand this off before the epoxy.
