Street Machine Magazine April-May 1985 issue on page 120 in Readers Cars

 

A LJ XU1 owned by Karen and Tony Parker of Canberra in Metallic Brown, I hope they might remember our cars pete, as they had a rana in 1985

In Street Machine Summernats 1991 on page 74 the Motorkana is a pic of the Red XU-1 (XU200)

It is your Brothers old car, Zodiac Blue, the Red one I seen is the one painted in Red that I have just posted a pic of from Summernats in 1991, I would of seen the red one here in 1990's and not 1980's the Red XU200

This is the Car I seen in my hometown in 1990's, getting petrol at the local BP Garage, the donk sounded very hot.

Do you know if it ever had a colour change, as my brother told me when he sold it the new owner had personal number plates XU200? Sounds very coincidental that my brothers old car which was only two years old when he sold it. When you  had seen this one did it have the vinal sunroof by chance?

No sunroof in it, when it was Red when I seen it, I guess the new red paint job they must of filled the sunroof in

Well all this is interesting reading, I have a XU2 replica, orginally a GTR or XU1. I bought the car in 1996 in Christchurch New Zealand from a guy that imported it from Australia around the same time, he also imported at the same time a modified HJ-HZ. He had owned both of these cars for sometime in Aussie but I don't know what state he was from. The car I have looks very similar to the picture of XU200 owned by Chris Bouldlis, car is Zodiac blue, has aerial in middle of roof, has signs of being red at some stage, has no sunroof but has got customized cloth interior and hoodlining, I believe this may have been a Bathurst XU1, ADR plate that came with car is 8/1972 . Car has Indy dragway wheels fitted, these were on vehicle when I purchased. Does anyone have any info on this vehicle?? Or is it the same vehicle as XU200.

Forum member myss427 should know, as his brother owned the V8 LJ when Zodiac Blue, he might remember if it was a 8/1972 dated car, as the car has seem to have vanished, maybe cause it went to NZ in 1996, that would explain why.

myss427 brothers car, he sold it and the next owner put the ACT XU200 number plate on it, it must of had the sunroof filled in went painted Red in late 1980's or early 1990's etc I guess.

Al, their website lists this car as a genuine GTR, what tells you that this is XU200 the red LJ XU-1 V8.

If it was my brothers car, it was a genuine XU1. In the photo's above shows the original Canberra plates (could be traced), it was also registered in Adelaide as that is our home town, he was based in Canberra at 5 squadron hence the ACT plates. He sold the car in 73/74 someone might know from the plates who got it next. But as you can see in the pics it had a sun roof.

 

Also it was original Zodiac Blue, should not the compliance plate tell that?

I just assumed the car was it, due to same mirrors and roof ariel and its Red, I guess if its listed as a GTR then it cant be XU200 Red LJ XU-1 from Canberra

Al, did this car have ACT plates, or a different state, as I just saw these plates for sale, guy has had them for 25 years.

I reckon the Red LJ with XU200 number plate from NSW is the car I seen here in my Home Town Pete

And the LJ XU-1 with the XU200 number plates from ACT is not the car I seen, its the Red one from NSW, great find and solves what I seen 100%

the Torana's in the Magazine you just posted are from Preston Victoria, so XU200 should be a Vic Plate, I have seen the XU200 number plate from NSW on ebay as well Pete

XU200 in the mag u posted looks like the car I seen,  in the mag it says from Preston Victoria, so it might of been from Vic and not NSW , by the look of the Car, I would say Victoria XU200 is the car I seen
