been in the middle of a long term project building a new driveline. things are looking closer now. engine should make about 650 at the fly between 8 and 8200. have full manual t400 5000rpm converter, 26x12 sr raidials on atm but intention is to run slicks of same dimentions. been doin a little maths and it seems like 4.3 may be the right ratio for this setup? all in lx sedan, full street trim. will be looking at a change of susspention for the 1/4 have full adjustable upper n lower trailing arms from pmt and koni adjustables all round atm. kings heavy springs as well. i do realize for seriouse raceing alot will need to be changed in this area but this car is street registerd and driven, occasionaly. there is plans to run gas on this as well later down the track, probs a fogger direct port starting with 150shot. any help would be great thanks.

Start with 4.11
Once you get the car running and sorted you can play with ratios
You want to be crossing the line in top gear at max rpm or there abouts for fastest ET's

i dont know about doing door slammer times but if it dose a 9.9 ive done what i wanted, anything lower is a bonus, yes my orginal thought was 4.11, when the cam guy said max power at 8 to 8200 i starting thinking lower as the rev range is higher than first planed. ive orderd my new axles a few weeks ago and was thinking about getting a centre off the same place, altra 9 in bissy, nice guy. so im hoping to get it right the first time. 2400 for a centre dont want to have to buy 2 or 3 or.....

holy shit, when i was there getting my axles done he quoted me for a brand new strange big bearing case, big pinion support, wave trac hemisphear, gears of my choice(ratio) 1350 billet yoke, all for 2400, not alloy tho. is your mates alloy? might be where the extra cash went?

4.11's should be ok. What induction package are you running to make power at 8200rpm?

2x1000cfm 4b throttle bodys, 65lb injectors, bain raceing tunnel ram, camtech soild roller 274/[email protected]. obviousely the engine is still all sitting here in boxs atm and im just going on theory. when the engine is assembled and on a dyno things may not work as expected. nuthing ever dose.

I have a 4.11 mini spool centre in my car at the moment, which I am looking to change (to 3.5 true track LSD).

PM me if you are after a centre.

thanks for the offer bro but im realy not interested in any type of spool. too much of a pain in a rego'd car. most likely why your going to tru trac?

You could remove the gears & sell off the spooled hemisphere.

yeah i know, the car is bearly driven these days, country cops n my car seem to have an allergic reaction to each other. i figure if i cant drive it bugger all i'll make it near undriveable. i do plan on keeping the rego tho and it will see the very occational street driveing, just i had a spool in a 600hp hq 1 tonner, was a total pain in the ass. it seems from what ive read that the wave trac is the best comprimize. i actualy have a 31 spline full spool hemisphere here in a carrier that was the original plan, im just going to sell it tho. what sort of coin u want for the 4.1? i have a vl here with 20's and a t56, might go allright in that with say a tru trac in it.

According to the moroso slide rule 135mph on 26" tall tyres at 8000rpm = 4.6:1

I used 135mph cause thats wht it says for a 9.90

That said, 650 in a 2600lb car should do 9.2 @ 148, so same tyres same rpm but that means you want around 4.1.....

Just get the 4.11's lol.

Cheers.

yeah i did the same math, says 9.17@148mph with 4.3 and 26"

Remember that the "slide rule" HP is at the tyres not the flywheel, so 650 becomes 520-550, depends which converter you use.
