All standard wheels look good :). gave the motor and chassis a wash with the gurnie, came up really good, next step is to take running gear out and stand the chassis up to wash it right out its easy when youv've got a forklift :) dad gave me a few more rules, homework and assignments first :(

Cheers Danny

If chassis is rusty where the body mounts go, go to a nut & bolt merchant and buy some flat washers of the right size and weld them in where the rust is. Cheap and easy way around it.

The instruments are different, but the dash is the same.

It is a throwback to a HK dash. Only some HJ got the strip speedo though. Many had the U17 sports dash, and Statesmans didn't have it. Only Belmont/Holden, Kingswood and Premier/LS had the strip speedo as standard. GTS, Deville, Caprice and Sandman didn't.

Quick up date. new chassis is completely stripped and on the rotissery. starting to look like ill be able to keep my budget nice and low with all the brand new/good parts that ive got between the 2 utes. picked up a set of genie extractors a really low price, bought a blue motor and vh 5 speed with a tailshaft to suit a salisbury thats been cut, found a torana v8 banjo uni, so hopefully it fits the utes banjo diff.

heres a few pics :)

that moke is cool
i think you might run into trouble with the v8 uni's as they are a different size to the six cly diffs tmk
but it only costs 50 odd bucks for a proper new set anyway...

I have a chassis just the same laying around here
Almost temped to find a body for it now

Is there a plan to coat the inside of that chassis with something to stop it rusting from the inside out ?

there is something out there but i cant think of it, it comes ether in a spray can with a foot long straw on it or just a paint tin.

Cheers.

tectyl is just a short term converter/protectant....and dangerous as all hell don't get it on your paint..
.never comes off and eats it
wear a respirator and gloves etc if you use that
wurth's wax or similar.....or even bitium[tar is the go
or even fish oil...

Havent done alot, chassis ready for the first coat of paint, for the inside we're just going to use fish oil as the stuff we were looking you'd need to take a bank loan out to buy it.

heres a few plans for the motor/trans.

standard 202 3 on the tree for the first year or so

hot red 202, blue rods and flywheel, 173 9 port head with vn commodore valves and springs with a nice port job, a mild cam, EFI off a EA falcon or something similar. VH 5 speed.

cheers Danny

Why bother with the 179 head (unless you already have it!). Better off using a blue/black head and EFI hardware off a VK Commodore. There is a someone here who converted one of these manifolds to VN Delco ECU. You'll bust the VH 5spd pretty smartly.

Ive already got the 173 head, the motor was down the paddock when we moved here so i had to make use of it some how.
heres a few pics of it. won't be a big power house will only be around 160 170hp, so maybe it might handle it lol

chassis all undercoated now just have to wait for it to harden and to the top coat than clear.

Sorry, I read 173 9 port as 179. You want a really high comp engine, make sur ethe cam has plenty of overlap or it'll ping its proverbials off!
