Interior finished and cleaned up, still obviously a UC dash and console but not changing it, said from the start not trying to hide the fact it is a UC besides I don't mind the dash and console plus its in such good condition.

I do have a couple of questions if anyone can help.

1. I still have no idea what the front seats are out of?

2. I have a gremlin in the wipers. When wipers are in the off position they sometimes randomly move halfway up the windscreen and stop. Not sure if its an earth problem or the wiper motor itself? So if anyone has had this happen before would appreciate any advice.

New tires fitted. The old ones still had plenty of tred but were so old they were as hard as stone and probably would have fallen to bits if used.

Looking awesome! Is it ready for cruising yet?

re the wiper motor, there's a few threads around here on getting them to stop in the right spot. I had to rebuild mine, will see if I can find the how-to thread I used.

Almost ready for cruising, should be registered by Friday & perfect cruising weather up this way this time of the year.

I did take a look at posts relating to wipers but none seem to relate to my issue? As mentioned they work fine 99 percent of the time just randomly move 1/4 to 1/2 way up the windscreen at times. Could possibly be the switch? As you know the UC has the wiper switch on the steering column, I'm not sure if the rest of the wiring set up is the same as the LH/LX?

I'm probably best putting it on the tech issues forum and see what feedback I get.

Finally took the Torana on its first official cruise, was a great day in Darwin "Cruise for a Cause" and received lots of positive comments on the car. Didn't finish quite so well, smoke poured out from under the dash and engine bay 20 feet from parking at the finish of the cruise. Ended up riding home in the front of a tilt tray!

Turns out the thermo fan sh%t itself and cooked the switch, relay and wiring, further investigation once getting it home revealed there was inline no fuse. Luckily there was no further damage to the rest of the wiring everything is still working fine. I have decided to revert back to old school metal fan and fan shroud rather than rewire with new thermo fan.

Very lucky was not a good feeling at all I had visions of it burning to the ground. Quickly parked it, disconnected the battery and had X3 dry chemical extinguishers on standby.

One reason why I like having stuff on relays mounted close to the item using the power.

Keeps all the switches inside opening and closing very low currents.

That way it minmises the chances of the electrical stuff losing its smoke.

All electrical equipment is filled with smoke.

Once you let the smoke out you have problems.

It is really hard to put the smoke back in. But it can be done.

The easiest way is to buy new stuff that is fully charged with smoke.

Glad for you that it wasnt a whole heap worse.

Cheers

Rob

Managed to pick up BROCKY number plates. They used to be on a Prado up here but lapsed 2 years ago. Also had a dummy drop tank cover made and fitted.Attached File  55C93F10-4046-43BB-96A3-7B02A927667F.jpeg   108.47K   2 downloadsAttached File  55C93F10-4046-43BB-96A3-7B02A927667F.jpeg   108.47K   2 downloads
