G`day.I am trying to restore a Chevrolet 1700 (Korean LJ Torana) here in the Philippines, and want to fit a Chev V6 into it.Is there anyone who has done that here on these forums?Any useful info would be greatly appreciated as the guys here wanted to mount the engine sticking out 8" above the bonnet, but I am pretty sure it can fit in better than that.I also would like some info on what sort of transmisssion would fit this particular engine as I tried buying a Turbo 350 on ebay but they said they will need to know what type of 262 it is.Any ideas please someone?

That bolt configuration is more like the Pontiac/Buick V6 style than the Chev pattern

So a TH350 won't fit straight up without an adaptor
Or maybe you could use the TH700/4L60e used in our Commodores with V6 pattern

v6 262 chev and 229 are the same as your normal v8 307 327 350 pattern etc..so any chev pattern turbo 350 will bolt in behind your engine...use hq 350 engine mounts and will bolt straight in

Hey mate i have a 262 v6 with hilborn injection and th350 in my lj torana, as the guys above said the usual mods need to be done but i made my own engine mounts to set the engine as far back/down as i could. Obviously the oil pan will have to be modified to fit, i made mine with a kickout as per a high energy etc. but should of made it deeper, i can fit my forefinger (7-10mm)between the pan and x-memeber and the deep pan is level with x-member The th350 does fit but it is a little tight in the tunnel depending how far it sets back, this is going back 15+ years now but i think i cut some tabs off the side of the th350 for more clearance. Actually what year is your engine, vortec pollution shit or does it have a balance shaft but i'm pretty sure they all have the same trans bolt pattern. The vortec heads flow better std stuff anyway unless you go alloy heads. Any q's i'll try to answer for ya. Here's a couple of sites if you really want to get into it, Mike at SYTY PERFORMANCE.COM and SYTY FORUMS.COM.

Cheers Steve
