hi im new here and would like to thank in advance all the people that have been spending their time sharing important and priceless information.
ive been reading alot of posts and have learnt a lifetime worth of knowledge from these forums about toranas already

the last 2 nights i have read countless pages full of discussions about bushes and if anything im more confused now then ever..
i thought nolathane was the way to go untill i saw some pics on here of them crumbling and falling apart..
some people still seem to swear by them but others stay well away..

so all i need to know from you experts out there that have had alot more experience then me is a final answer...
for once and for all..
what is the best option?????

standard gmh rubber bushes??

nolathane reds??

super pro??

or any other brand that i dont know of...

im not trying to start any arguments or feud between fellow torana owners as im sure there will be people with different opinions
but i need an answer soon so i can purchase and install them in..

please also any pros and cons of the choices would be great to here

i have today ripped the k-frame out and cleaned all the muck of it.
its now ready to be pulled apart but i think i will wait untill i buy the bush kit so i know ive got everything.

any help is much appreciated as like i said im new to this stuff and will definatley have more questions to come
btw its for a lh/lx sedan with a v8 going back in

As far as i have read for general road use its preffered to use as many rubber bushes as possible and nolathane is better for the track. I personally prefer rubber as i had nolathane one crumble after a year. I bought a kit off ebay that was all rubber and also had the castelated ball joints in the kit.

G/day Yaz and welcome aboard the good ship Lollipop.

My personal preference is rubber bushes, these cars chassis and suspension components weren't engineered around stiff urethane bushes.

As Hawk said though if you intend to use the car for track work then urethane bushes may be better.
If you want urethane bushes get the SuperPro brand, don't touch the nolathane, too many forum members have had them crumble at a young age.

Also if you are in the market for new ball joints and tie rod ends don't bother taking a second look at the ones with the nylock nuts. Only ever use ball joints that have the castellated nuts and split pins.

Just my humble opinion.

As above the general consensus seems to be rubber for road use, Superpro brand if you go polyurethane.

I'd agree with the second part, mine has mostly Superpro bushes and they are definitely better quality bushes than some others (I'm pretty happy with using it on the road too, but opinions vary).

The question of whether to use rubber or poly is mostly a matter of harshness in both personal comfort and wear and tear on the vehicle. You will note that Superpro supplies different stiffness bushes and correctly supplies them in kits - for example, there are two different ones for front and rear pivots on the front lower control arm.

When i purchased the front end kit i had the choice of the 2 for the lower arms as well
The kit i got came with:
Upper and lower arm bushes
Upper and lower ball joints
Tie rod ends
You can get the full kit through there too though

thanks for all the quick responses
ill take the advice of the wise and stay away from nolathane i guess.. (even though they look sooo good) (shiny red hmmm)
the car will very rarely see a track day (maybe a coupke times a year if im lucky enough to get away) and even then it will not be for competition but more for fun times.
its more of a tough weekender thats been robbing me of my hard earned..

ive noticed the 'hamburger with the lot' kit has a mixture of genuine and non genuine parts. why?
is there a kit that sells all genuine? or is that not a good option? or very pricey?

what in your opinion is the benefit of going super pro?

how good is the kingswood country kit??

they dont happen to make rubber ones in anything besides black do they (stupid question i know)

As far as i know they are only black and the kit they have hasnt caused any problems in my car. I am very happy with it. The reason for the mixure of genuine and non genuine is because as far as i know they cant get certain ones that are genuine anymore, therefore have to be reproduced

Holden never made most or any of those parts themselves anyway.
AFAIK Mackay rubber products made suspension bushes (amongst many other parts) with the 'Holden' wording and part number on the bush for GMH.

yeh i got given a light blue sway bar not sure of brand its got yellow bushes that look plastic.
so is it true that aftermarket bushes deterioate if the cars not used regularily??
how good is super pro with replacements and warranty?
i heard that nolathane and super pro squeak...anyone had any probs so far??

If your after looks go superpro or nolathene but be prepared for the possibility they will crumble within a yeR or 2

Nothing wrong with superpro.

As for Nolathane, whiole i accept a number of people have had some issues, the product has a wide range of supporters. Besides, for me, the hatch has run them for 6 years, no sign of failure.

as usual, its all about matching the product to application

or should i just go kmac/pedders etc?? as to in a way thinking if they supply and fit maybe they will replace and refit under warranty..

I've gone with Pedders but I haven't got it on the road to comment but we use Pedders bushes in all outrcustomers cars (only rubber) and w haven't had a problem

I found the Kingo country kit good. All rubber. Some NOS stuff. All ball joints use castleated nuts. All fitted fine.

gone back to rubber in the front end on the stato
after the bluey coloured ones crumbled just sitting in my garage
they ride better as a bonus ...it's not a race car so handling is not so important

whiteline bushes are urethane, and theyre black in colour, these have proven to be a greatly improved bush
