It is going around that the Police will be targetting Munchies and Browns Plains this week.

Please keep this in mind if you are going to any of the two this week.

Fucck that Dave. Go to Munchies and go to Kosmos as well. MAKE SURE you take your video camera and record the coppers targetting. Send the footage to Grunt Files (dont post it publically) to prove to Andy Morrow that targetting is really happening. The authorities say it doesnt happen and without proof, how can we say it does? The same rumour was spread last week and no police showed up.

To me it seems like "someone" is throwing out red herrings to deter us from doing what we have the constitutional right to do i.e. enjoy our hobby without fear of retribution.

Your car is fully compliant, mod plated and legal. Why should a rumour stop you from enjoying the efforts of your hard earned money, blood, sweat and tears?

I reckon I might just take the rust riddled shitter out on Sat night, just for shits and giggles. See you there hey !!

lol
no offence intended t
but even if confronted with the video
all the commissioners response would be "it was part of a easter safety campaign to rid the streets of roadworthy cars...."

No offence taken Quag and you are correct, that is what they will say. However they have stated that targeting does not happen. We say (and know) that it does. Without proof we have nothing but hearsay to back up a case of discrimination.

I also dont believe that we should be playing into their game of fear mongering by avoiding the places we have right to enjoy just as anyone else does. This is exactly what they want, why give it too them on a silver platter? If they want us off the roads they are going to have try harder. The alternative for them is to perhaps listen to us and engage in a proactive and collaborative effort to achieve their objectives of making the roads safer for all. Bully boy tactics dont work forever..........

i just thought
if you could prove it was sustained and repeated over a period of time
you may get some pollies/etc to agree with you
but end of the day it comes down to votes and when/if there is a election on....wink wink

There is no doubt what so ever the crack down and associated "Tough Anti Hoon Laws" is all about votes, election promises, and \or revenue raising. Newman used it in his pre election campaign, Barnett used it to shore up votes for his re-election. Other governments are and will follow suite. The public love it, the pollies love it, the police have to enforce it and we have to suffer the consequences of ignorance. At some point something has to give and a stand must be made. Up until now, no one has really done much to this effect (bar ACMC NSW). Enter Grunt Files, the formation of ACMC-Qld and similar efforts nation wide. We have a voice, and it is beginning to be heard. We must be able to back up our claims though, hence my advocating of collecting evidence rather than running scared.

Love it Barry !! I can just imagine the conversation when pulled over by a police woman "Drivers license plea...... OMG get some clothes on you pervert. And by the way, do you have a mod plate for that "thing", Im sure its over sized and not factory spec" Driver causally reaches into glovebox and produces a script for Viagra. "Is this the paperwork you are looking for officer?" "Yes it is sir, but I will need to inspect your crank shaft a bit more"..... Its got the makings of a good porno I reckon........

What I was thinking the other day though was to put a great big Rainbow sticker on my rear window. You know, the ones the gay folk have on their cars. When pulled over just mince around and be all dramatic claiming discrimination based on sexuality. Could do the same with a big Aboriginal flag (race) or Inverted Pentagram (religion). In all seriousness it would be an interesting angle to investigate further.

I got a message from a fellow Torana owner today advising he had been pinged for doing absolutely nothing except driving his car. Not even an RBT. The police officer ran across the road with his ticket book in hand, stopped the bloke who was at a set of lights about to turn right and proceeded to conduct a License and Vehicle check. 1.5 hrs later the Torana owner is defected and fined. And the head honchos at HQ are telling us we are not targeted? Bullshit. Got a few things to clarify and check first but I will report back on this one.

yep i was stalked on sunday in the rain i was doing 10 under ,then party lights came on.yeah we punched in your numberplate and nothing came up was the excuse.lable check, breatho and i was on my way.thats what you get when you stand out i spose.could have been worse...but really what are you gonna do  with your camera?waste of time and money.unless youve got bucket loads of money and nothing better to do than go to court over and over.fk that id rather sell my car than deal with this shit. im too old for police drama.had enough to last a lifetime.the money ive given to the transport dept ,i could have a brand new GTS every year.

Too true Potta. If not a camera at least set a shortcut on your phone to enable quick access to Voice Recorder. If for nothing else it was at least enables you to recall exactly what the officer said and what you said. Let them know you are doing it. I have heard that their attitudes change when they know they are being recorded by either video or audio.

We shouldnt have to do this and ACMC-Qld will be doing everything possible to improve enthusiast\police relations however in the meantime we just cant take it on the chin as we have done for decades. If we do nothing things will get worse, not better. There is no doubt in my mind about that at all.

Oh and Barry, selling the car is not an option mate, not for me anyway. Why should my boy miss out on the joy and happiness of cruising in his Torana just as I have for the past 20 years? I understand what you are saying man, but going on a Camry Cruise to Toyota Fest just doesnt have the same vibe to it :D

True story here.....

I was leaving munchies in my LJ last Friday night going inbound towards town.  Light up ahead is red and I pull up on the left a uniform police vehicle already stopped.  The officer winds down his window, catches my eye and says to me "Mate, That's a really nice car!".  It took me a moment to recover and I thanked him just as the light went green and away we went.  no drama's, no hassle.  It's not all bad out there but this is the first positive experience I have had for at least a decade.  What's really surprising is that my car (and those who have seen it will know) has a pretty large scoop on the bonnet, which would be a perfect excuse to stop me.......

frOck me.... Glad I was sitting down or I would have given myself a nasty knock to the head. That is good news Craig, do you mind if I share your story and photo of your beast among the wider community?

These sorts of stories really help to improve Police\Enthusiast relations. Thanks for posting.
