Hi,

I want to replace the front suspension bushes in my LH...but I don't know what they are called and when I look on any website there are lots that look like they may fit. The ones I am talking about are the 4 ones that are holding the subframe to the chassis. The ones that are accessed through the 4 holes in the chassis rails in the engine bay and are under big washes.

Does anyone know what thier prper name is or even better of a pack that has all four in them?

Cheers,
Scott.

Cheers. Thanks for that. I thought they were just a kit of 4 rubber bushes but there is obviously more to it than I thought!

Crossmember mount bushes

Rares site is not being freindly to me since they changed it so can't link you to it
I'd use rubber ones myself unless your trying to stiffen up a track car

But heres some on ebay

That kit also includes the 2 outrigger bushes. But other then that, that's what you need for the K-Frame mounts.

Yes I think I will just use rubber ones. My car is a cruiser, not a track weapon. The ones I have now have just disintegrated into little blue bits of plastic!

A question about this kit. This one and others I have seen has "Outrigger" bushes. What part of the suspension is the outrigger?

The rear legs of the K frame that attach to the chassis rail. Poke you head under your car and you will see.

No doubt when I take the front end out I'll find the ones that look similar. i will get that set you mentioned....when its back in stock that is. I'm going to give the "lift the body and wheel out the whole lot" method.

The front end has 6 mounting points. Two in either chassis rail in the engine bay, and another two under the body on either side of the chassis rail.

Do you think realistically that lifting the body and removing the subframe then putting it all back can be done by one bloke? Or do you need a few pairs of hands?

One can do it... 2 makes it easier
Or get yourself a couple of wheel dollys to roll the front end around on then you can easily do it alone

I used the lift body off method on my own, but will definitely be using Dattomans advice and getting some wheel dollys when it goes back together.

No one I know has any of those and I don't want to buy any for the one job as they are expensive. However with the wheels attached I imagine it should be easy enough to move about.

Yeah I did it like that. Got the motor/box/suspension out no worries. But had an extra set of hands to help lower the crane and line things up as it all went back in.

Nope, look at the picture above and tell me how you are going to roll the engine/box/frame out the way.... The engine lifter hooked onto the body gets in the way. With the wheel dollys, you just slide the whole shooting match out through the side. Couldn't be easier and will save you a heap of effort and stress. My 2 cents.

I had no dramas. I just lifted it all up and wheeled it out backwards under the side of the car. Couldnt of been easier.

Yes, but the picture above is using an engine lifter to do the work. i plan to lift from the shed roof, so there will be nothing in the way to come out the front.

Maybe I should have mentioned I had the rear wheels up on ramps.

Awesome, you'll have no worries then. Make sure you have plenty of room in front of the car.
Good luck.

I've just discovered today that my sub frame bushes have crumbled as well so I will be up for this unless I do the full rebuild thing first.
Thanks for the link to the new bushes. I was going to ask what ones were better. Street cruzer for me.
Cheers,
Brad
