Hi,

As the title says i was just curious how common having a vinyl roof on a Torana was? There is a very tidy and pretty mint GTR for sale over here that has a brown vinyl roof. Would this have come from the factory or dealer added? i have included a picture of the tag as well for all the experts to decipher.

Cheers,
Scott.

So BVR is Black/Brown vinyl Roof? So this tag does not have one means that it was dealer fitted. I'd want to remove it and paint i, what a hassle!

It SHOULD have BVR next to TOP on the ID plate for factory fitment, BUT that doesn't mean it wasn't fitted at the factory......probably dealer fitted.

On XU-1s very rare.
On GTRs a few about.
More common on normal 2drs and 4drs than you'd think, and the far majority have been pulled off over the years.......

Grant..

A mate of mine owned a Spanish Red LC GTR with a Black vinyl roof in the 80's, would be a rare combo today..

Even though I would take the top off and re-paint it, it would still be a good buy for someone I reckon. $20,000 and its mint and done under 80,0000 from new.

I know of a few cinnamon brown LC 4 doors with vinyl roof's. I own one, another is in shocking condition that lives near me, and another an hour away from me in not bad condition. I have also seen a green LJ with a black vinyl roof that was for sale in Adelaide a few years ago

The gold paintouts are a bit "out there", otherwise looks like a fairly unique car in good original condition that has been looked after.. Hard to find these days.

Cripes! An L34 is rare enough with being an L34 with a vinyl roof!

Looks like a good buy and vinyl roof is a bonus as I reckon they are not all that common.

They look good and the best way to keep it in good nick is to use Kiwi boot polish of the same colour, keeps the vinyl moist and stops the stitching from rotting/fraying.

I had a hotted up EK ute back in 1968 and I kept the torneaux cover for the ute back in top nick with black Kiwi boot polish.

At that time I lived in Port Kembla and was only 100 metres away from the beach and had to deal with the salt air plus acid rain from from the Australian Fertlizers and the Electrolitic Refining and Smelting (ER&S) company.

That big stack (chimney) at Port Kembla was used by the E R & S to get the arsonic of lead fumes away.
Not quite sure of the height of it but some where around 560ft/171m.

I use this:

Brilliant stuff, the vinyl roof on my car was redone in 1992, and it still looks brand new.
