Awesome! That's a great shot. My girlfriend was in the back seat (where I lived growing up).

Don't knock the fedora lol.. I nearly wore a white panama hat in honour of the old boy who passed away last november. He would be proud to see the monaro at lakeside.

there must have been another one on the sunshine coast, the one I saw around was around the years of about 98-04. same colour, wheels and all. its possible the vinyl roof may have been another colour though. the one I had seen about, someone I knew had spoken to the owner, or his son, can't remember, and found out it was a genuine 350 chev, 4 speed GTS, old bloke had it from new, and apparently his son used to take it out for a drive on the rare occasion, as the father wasn't driving it at all

WOW that's bizarre, the coast is a small place, and if there was a twin to dad's car around we would probably know about it, as dad being a mechanic all the parts shop guys and other mechanics etc knew of dad's one and would have asked if we had got it back on the road etc..

Blackwatch green was a rare colour being 71 only, only seen a couple of others, including the one that nearly fell off the tasman bridge in the early 70's..

If there was another one around here it'd be great to find it and take a pic of them together..

my memory on the one I've seen is a bit vague now, as it probably been 10 years since I ever saw it about. its possible it was a darker green, and black vinyl, I'm really not sure haha. I have always loved HQ coupes, maybe one day I will get myself one

Hmm how many years ago? It was stored between 1992 and 2007 when we pulled it out to restore it. We lived in maroochydore til 85 then forest glen after that. Here's a pic from the other day:

Here's a pic of it in about 1977, yes wearing the HJ spoiler set, at lakeside also, but this time towing the car trailer while dad leans on his group C XU1:

I have a pic of the xu1 on the start line at lakeside, at the end of series trophy presentation that has in the background, that sign on the hill overlooking the main straight in it, if you were ever wondering what those two posts were there for!

ps that Super Cock shirt still exists! My bro in japan has it now. I have his race suit hanging up at home too. Safety standards were a bit different back then!
