I am in the process of restoring my original LH SLR 6 cylinder. As you can see from the photo attached I have a problem with the chrome on a couple of my door interior panels flaking due to age. Has anyone successfully repaired/repainted them so they look good. If so what was used and how did you do this

 Thanks

It would probably be easier to replace your door cards if you were looking to do a full resto. I have never seen or heard of anyone repairing the chrome edge.

cheers

Mick

No luck as of yet. Thinking I might have to buy new door trims but I don't want to as I will have to cut speaker holes in them and that to me is a waste.

Just wondering if an alternative might be the mirror chrome paint that Ive seen advertised in mags.

Doubtful it would be an authentic look but may be close enough.

I bought chrome pin stripping from AutoBarn for my son's school project. I did not find a roll wide enough for the door card but I never asked so they may be able to order it in for you.

P.S. I also went to a lot of craft shops looking for "chrome tape" and found nothing.

Chrome in a can would be good enough if it was a hatchback

There are places out there that sell the plastic chrome but it is uneconomical for you as they only sell it by the kilometre!

Try Steve at Cools if he is willing to plastic weld into your door cards.
