I'll have an educated guess at around 250kg totally bare.

Bad news for all the fat bastards of the world. The health care community regards the average male humans weight to be 70 kg.
I will let you know how heavy the shell feels when I get around to manhandling it out of the shed.

What the hell is your problem? Sims have ( or had) a scale for weighing scrap metal that would weigh 0 - 500 KG. That's where I got the figure from. If you weigh 150 KG, that's your issue.

Yeah, and if you do your maths in a workshop method buy turning the car into a flat crushed box, it goes like this:-

Length ((5000mm x 750 x 2) + Width (1400 x 750 x 2 ) + Top & Bottom ( 5000 x 1400 x 2 )) x Average metal thickness 1.5 / cubic mm in a 10mm thick one square metre plate = Total Weight

                     7500000          +                 2100000        +                              14000000         x                             35400000 /                             10000000        x       76.76kgs    = 271.73 kgs

I know you want accuracy, but this gives a rough idea. Dave I

p.s. looks like I am 120 kgs out

I took an absolutely bare R33 skyline shell to the scrappies here in brissy and it was 230kg - they are a similar sized car.

When i bought my lx i was bare shell sitting on its guts. me and 2/3 mates lifted it on a car trailer (end at a time)

It would be bare minimum 150kg. Id be putting it closer to 200kgs.

A complete small block Chev with aluminium intake weighs around 250kg, you're saying a car shell weighs 100kg less? No way.

Material thickness is more like 1.2mm Dave, so theres some of it.

I would be surprised if it was more than 250kg.

They only weigh around 1250 when there together....And theres a lot of "stuff" hanging off them.

I know three smallish guys can easily lift a bare LC/LJ shell, two on the back and me on the front. Box type ones although a bit bigger have the benefit of being able to remove the front guards etc.

Off topic, im 81kg, looks like i best loose some weight ey Rexy....Though i am 6'1....Dropped down to 74kg after my diet recently (was 105) and was way to skinny, Ribs back ribs hips veins everything hanging out. would hate to hit 70kg....

Cheers.

Hi DJ,
I am being lean there as there is an inner and outer skin on all sides, so I will still lean towards the 250kgs mark

Newer and likely stronger due to crash reg so likely heavier?
Hard to argue with an actual scale weight (150 kg)

Hi Rexy,
Is the shell without the front bolt on guards?

Look it like this if you and a mate can lift 75kg each 2 of you could easy lift a shell, i think that 4 blokes would struggle to lift a bare shell so i think 150 kg was simms ripping you off, think 300 + would be closer to the mark.

Whats one weigh complete? Over a tonne?

It was back around 1989 and there probably was some rust. No digital scales back then and the offer was for 150 KG of scrap metal. So some tolerances may have come into play. In any case, most replies seem to think a figure of around 200 KG is close to the mark. So since it seems rexy only wants to know because she wants to move it, either way it's going to be heavy.
