Just to satisfy my own long time curiosity, can anyone tell me how many actual hatchbacks Harvey &

Brock used during the 1978 & 1979 ATCC seasons & Bathurst. They each had a ATCC season car & a

Bathurst car for each year, but did they just keep recycling the same 2 cars, or how many were there.

Bowdens own the 78 & 79 Bathurst winners, so I know these were 2 different cars. Also, were all of

these cars GMP&A race shells, or were some regular GMP&A shells, or road cars.

Pete.

Mick did a rundown on all the cars recently, he has a thread with a timeline in it.

You may need a search

Hi Red,
Thanks for the reply. I have just read your post no 33 from 2010 in "HDT A9X....Where Is It Now", I had no idea my question had such an involved answer, fascinating. Thanks for sharing your research.

Just to confirm I am understanding correctly, the 78 car the Bowdens have is the 78 championship winning & 78 Bathurst winning car, & was then used by harvey for the 79 season & 79 bathurst. The 79 car they have was a new car for brock for the 79 season & the 79 bathurst winner. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Couple of pics attached taken by a mate of mine in 1979.

Red, which of the 4 78/79 HDT hatchbacks were race shells. How many of the 33 race shells did they get.
Pete.

Pete.

You have to love the simple days of real tin top racing. Brings joy to the heart looking back at photo's of the 70's.

No in car air legs back then.

That's when racing had such an impact on car sales. Winning or even competing well at Bathurst got people in the door.

Never a true words than "Race Sunday Buy Monday"

Love your photo's.
