I got these screws when I bought my spoiler from Brad Merick. He said they were New Old Stock.

Overall length: 18mm

Diameter of head: 8mm

Should actually read 3/4 x 5/16 on box don't forget. & yes they look acurate to me, note the countersunk with button head style. Gary.

Hi all

Definitely an unusual/little used screw. SP2155 - the only reference that I can find anywhere is in relation to the XU-1 rear spoiler.

Cheers

Hi Gary

They are not a button head screw. They are Philips Pan Head counter sunk.

Cheers

Dave.

Dave, probably correct i just remembered 1 company at least calling them button, but yes usually panhead i'd go with that mate. & 16mm would mean actually 5/8 with a mm missing x 5/16 round before Dave corrects me ;) thanks mate Gary.

The machinery's handbook list this type of head as "oval csk head"

The GMH description I found is Oval head No.8 - 18 x 5/8" Black it does not mention if it is Phillips head , it is not in the self tapper section of the book but the machine bolt section so I would say it is not a self tapper, but that does not sound correct

Old thread but I need some help. The 4 holes in the back of my spoiler are about 10mm . 8mm screws seem way to small. Have my holes been damaged to be that diameter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ian.

Sounds like the heads of the screws have been pulled right through the fibreglass.

I was afraid of that. Is there any way of dealing with this problem?. Again any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Ian if you look inside the spoiler there should be a thicker pad in the fibreglass around each screw hole.

They are basically separate rectangular pieces of fibreglass that have been glassed onto the back of the spoiler to strengthen the fixing point and allow thickness for the countersunk screw heads.

If you are unable to replace these yourself then perhaps talk to a fibreglass product manufacturer/repairer.

From memory the holes were a good bit bigger than the screws.

That was so the spoiler could be moved around a bit to actually get it to fit.

If the holes were smaller you ended up scratching the paint trying to fit them.

Cheers

Rob
