Rusted heater box / water leak

Looking at repairing the rust / water leak from the heater box . Has anyone done this and can anyone pass on some useful tips ?

First thing you need to do is remove everything in that area, eg. wiring, felt etc so nothing catches a light when welding.

 

Then unpick (spot welds) the plenum chamber and you can see the extent of rust and make your new section.

  Mine was almost identical damage to this pic. Only way is to unpick the plenum top, and replace the metal.
