Yup, looking good so far Mat. That engine looks shmick.   B)  So you're goin the 202 route again instead of the 308? An reasons why mate? I admire any decision to make cars more factory, like 202/no flares. I've thought of this myself but I've always wanted the combo I've got planned for mine (just gotta do it tho)

Cheers Jase.

I decided to stick to my original plan to build a stockish looking cruiser. Here is the rundown if yrinterested.

202 4speed stockish look.
Trim will be its factory chamois
Black dash facia and stock black steering wheel
Lowered on 15x7 black interceptor volvo wheels w 225 tyres
Burnt orange paint
L34 style side stripes
No flares or blacked out bonnet
Colour coded bars with overriders
Blacked out rear
Aunger rear louvre
Sedan chamois console.

That sounds perfect mate - I can't wait to see it all come together  :D

That's the good thing about this forum - you can see & enjoy what others are doing with their cars, without going that way yourself   :spoton:

Just re read your thread. You obviously changed your mind again. What happened to the black 308 idea?
The 6 looks a treat though.
I like your plan a lot too. The strip without the black bonnet is what I like also. I though of doing to my hatch but got scared

Hey Grant

Don't get me wrong I love V8 torana's and I'm sure one day I'll go down this path. But I like the simplicity and the look of a Holden 202. I've got a ls1 vy wagon if I want to scare myself.

As long as I can cruise on the hwy and take the wife and kids for a ride from time to time the car is doing its job.

No deadline on completion.

I reckon me and the old man could knock it over in about six weeks if we went full time on it. But I'm not rushing. Kids take up most of the spare time. I'm guessing it'll be a year or two before I'm on the road. I'm enjoying the process thus far.

A little bit more done...

Diff clean up and parts completion

The banjo had no brakes on it and a stud missing on one side. Iaawell as sorting out this stuff I was also going to upgrade the axles to uc fine splines, but upon inspection of the banjo axles II didn't bother as they were in excellent condition.

So I dropped the diff out cleaned it all up and gave it a quick squirt of paint and now it's ready for re installation. Never touched a diff before so it was good experience .

Reached a small milestone today and installed the motor and box into the car. Just need to connect it up. And fire it up.

Spent some time on the bars and cleaned them up they're good enough for me to re use on the car. If some ones got a set of overriders for the rear bar to suit rubber strip PM me. I'm wanting to spend about $80 tops for a set.

Mate I think you must have read my mind while I was asleep.

I'm doing a UC hatch in almost identical scheme as yours , still not painted but I'm trying to work out which orange I like. Sebring orange is winning at the moment.
The only difference will be a black interior on mine , already got new full carpet and vinyls kit and headlining to go in once I'm sorted.
I like that you doing the 202 and 4 speed, mines currently 173 with a 3 speed but I got 202 and m20 sitting around ready to rebuild and probobly going to turbo it so should go ok.
Keep up the posts can't wait to see the progress.

It's Alive!

Turned the key today and it fired up! Pretty wrapped. Just need to finish off the last bits n pieces and its a driver.

I'm gonna hang the panels and start prepping the body for a lick of paint.

Its possible I could be on the road by the end of the year if I can keep chipping away at this pace.

Done a couple bits n pieces over the last few months...

Connected up the engine and the car now starts, runs drives and stops.
I'm aware that I've fitted the pollution hoses incorrectly I need to fix them up.

I fitted the seats and the sedan console I'm going to use. It was nice to hop in and have a quick drive around the yard. It was a good motivator to keep chipping away.
