thanks for the explanation. that makes sense. with the wheels on one sits inside the guard and the other is flush so maybe have to get one side shortened again.

I don't have a driveshaft yet (or diff head) to check clearances

It's gonna be difficult to judge with the diff just hanging like that, you really need to assume that the diff will 'self-centre' once everything is back together and on the road.

(yeah I know... assumption is the mother of all frOckups)

Been spending a tonne of time in the garage lately.

Front wheels arrived. 15x7 with 4.5bs. 195/50 t1r's

Got the wiring in and motor running. Just need to tidy the wiring up

Overflow bottle installed and put in a window washer set up as it had been removed

Alloy radiator in. Have fan mounted but no pics

Hidden all the wiring for the lights etc down inside the drivers side guard

Rear floor sandblasted and undersealed. standard tank painted.

Bosch 040 fuel pump with 3/8 alloy line

Started putting the interior back in.  Have installed new underfelt

Im a bit further down the road with it but this is where the pics are up to.

Standard tank fuel gauge senders are earthed through the tank straps so you might have issues with your fuel gauge if there's paint under them. Looking good otherwise :spoton:

Got the rest of the interior back in. Have a momo steering wheel now , looks a bit out of place with the origional dash.

Bought an r31 diff that had already had the 5 stud conversion done. its 5x114 unfortunatly but still works with my wheels. Turns out the pinion had a chipped tooth so had a vl 3.45 installed . new brake discs and reco calipers. Monroe shocks and compressed springs

New 3inch driveshaft

Rear wheels arrived. 15x8 with 4.5inch BS. 225/50 toyo tyres

Sent it off to a local shop called RSL automotive. Ronnie put flanges on the factory stainless headers and then run a 2 1/4 system to two flowmasters. He also finished up my gearbox crossmember.

Installed a VN booster with 1 inch master cylinder. Brakes are 95% complete.

From RSL it went to A1 automotive where its had the inlet manifold gaskit replaced, timing set, plugs, changed fuel pump to a rb30(saved running a pressure reg) and a set of injectors and is now running mint!!!

next on the list is to drop the motor out and fit up the clutch.

Does anybody have any idea on what clutch cable to use with the Toyota w50 box?

Thanks, I'm guessing that's an aussie show? I'm on the wrong side of the ditch!

No boats in NZ?

In other news, use the UC Torana or early commodore clutch cable. A few threads on this forum detail it. I've done it a few times and it works well. Very nice and light setup.

"CC100" is the clutch cable (part number from Flexible Drive Agencies) that most people use, this is the full cable job from the UC, but depending on a number of geometries, you may need to space the sleeve to adjust the length to where you need it...

I don't know what the Toyota bellhousing end is like... or what your pedal is like (V8 Commodore style, or 6cyl Torana geometry etc.)

Had the exhaust finished then had to add some bends to bring it out behind the wheels

Got the car all legal on December 22, just in time for christmas!

Just ticked over 16 years of ownership too. Still plenty to do but just enjoying being able to drive it for the time being.

The car has been great fun having on the road. Have been chipping away changing things up while still having fun.
Have had the lifters replaced and exhaust changed to go over the gearbox crossmember instead of under.
Installed some Speedbut guages and new front bumper, door handles and mirrors.
