Hello all.

I am currently getting a new engine built for my LX (383 stroker), which will be running yella terra roller rockers. I am hoping to keep the original look of the external engine, which means sticking with the standard rocker covers, however I have been told that the original rocker covers won't clear the roller rockers.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I can overcome this problem please!?!

Many thanks :)

Liam

I did that with my holden six. If its the same, two rocker cover gaskets works fine

I too had this same problem and was told that the standard rocker covers aren't tall enough when using roller rockers. The other problem with the standard ones or even chrome rocker covers is that they are quite flimsy and can spring oil leaks. I bought a set of these alloy rocker covers which are not only more sturdier in design but are also tall enough to clear roller rockers.

Try Googling "Aussiespeed. Rocker Cover spacers" they make 12 mm alloy spacers for this purpose.

i believe the stock type covers will clear roller rockers except for the twist on oil cap tags on the inside..you could modify them(1) to have a push in type cap or breather

someone makes rocker cover spacers for holden v8 but i cant remember who?

you could buy some chrome tall covers and paint them engine colour seen that done before?

if you use the alloy covers(KC type) as Gonedeaf mentioned and you have oversise valve springs and retainers you will have to grind the inside for clearance as i had to

The YT rockers usually hit the covers with the adjusting nuts.

Stud type rockers usually fit no probs (ran plenty of crane gold rockers under stock covers).

The Aussiespeed cover spacers don't fit very well & leak, if you have to use them then you'll want to seal the bottom of them with some heavy duty sealant (3bond grey silicon or equivalent) & run thick cork gaskets on the covers.  They are a PITA & it's almost impossible to get a leak free seal using them.

Often 2x thick cork rocker cover gaskets glued together is enough to get clearance, but it does depend on what pedestal height you end up with to get geometry right.
