Hi All,

I've pulled my LH Torana 4 door off the road for a tidy up as there was rust appearing everywhere from previous repairs.

Yeah,

Its only done 3 passes, best was a 12.85, I cant remember the MPH bout 112 i think, when i get out a timeslip i'll put it in the timeslip section.

The rear Uni was clunking after the third pass and I'm lucky I got it home- the uni was missing all of the needle rollers from one of the cups.

I'm running an EFI 330stroker Holden V8, I'm running a T5 manual Commodore box, and a 9" disc rear end.

There are bubbles of rust in just about every usual Torana spot,

I'm going to put up pics of the rust repairs as I do them, i've done a fair bit already so i'll get it up to date.

This is the first spot we decided to tackle.

There was a rust bubble about the size of a 5c coin.

I've had about 4 sets of wheels on the car, I cant decide what i want so i took my last ones off and sold them and im just running chasers until i get the car painted then ill get a set of simmons or something nice.

These are 15x7 chasers on the front with the centre hub machined to fit HQ hubs and 215/60/15 tyres.

Rear 15x8 chasers (chaser centre welded to an 8" outer) and centre hole drilled to fit HQ centre with 235/50/15 tyres- thats all the tyre shop had cheap.

There was a tiny bubble under the rear screen, so I pulled it out and this is what we found.

It was just as bad on both sides, with holes all along the base.

I ground out every pitted hole along the bottom. Luckily they were small enough to be tacked up.

I had to put plates in behind on the bottom corners of both sides.

There were rust bubbles next to both tail lights about a 10c coin in size which were ground out and plates welded in from behind. Then I rubbed back the whole rear panel as it had been painted in chip coat.

Next was to high fill the repairs done on the rear.

It all looks pretty good once it has a few coats on it.

Working back around towards the front there were a few rust pinholes that were small enough to tack up.

Passenger side door repairs.

Who would have known that a single 2mm pinhole would end up being a whole section cut out of the door.

It seems like a strange place for a door to rust ?????

Now for the nose cone.

The number plate brackets had been bent under and rust had come in behind.

The drivers side had a large ding under the indicator, and a ding near the torana badge location (from the exhaust shop!!!) there were also other rust spots here and there.

Badge holes have also been welded up.

Nose cone bolted on,

Guards all lined up,

I'm very happy with how it has lined up, it's the straightest the car has ever been.

I was unhappy with the way that the scoop had been mounted. the holes were all spaced wrong, the scoop was warped, and I decided to start again by welding up all of the holes, and redrilling them.

I also panelbeated the inside of the bonnet as it had been damaged.

I bought a Rare spares bonnet scoop which I am very happy with because they are plastic whereas the old one was fibreglass.

Next was to pull out the front screen to see what surprises were under here.

Rust . . . . .

These pics are just the passenger side pillar that had been repaired at the top and bottom corner before.

The top had nikki blocking the hollow pillar which probably caused the rust half way up the pillar.

More pics after next rust repair session!

Cheers Pborg8.

I thought about getting it blasted, how much did it cost you?
