So many ideas to steal in this build... :-)

My Console-

I got a standard console, bought a new boot & insert from Rare spares, and did a cut and shut.

I have actually cut a good 4 inches in height, the rear mount sits flush with the tunnel.

I did all of this because my seats are low, and the standard console sat very high, and was abit claustrophobic.

I was going for a factory look, but still custom.

That looks spectacularly finished. How did you replicate the grain on the areas you altered?

Now I'm wondering if I should be trying to do a similar thing with the height... I haven't made any seat brackets up for my Recaro's yet but presumably they'll be lower than standard Torana buckets.

Photo in the car?

Looks like is been covered in vinyl.

I love this car and what you have done to it.
Always read and look forward to your updates

How does your glovebox open? Or should I ask, does your glovebox open?

It opens the same as factory.

It's just a factory dash & glovebox, its just been trimmed.

Next step is to fit the scuff plates, I've had issues with the screw holes being worn out. then tidy up the wiring under the dash.

this happened this week from a huge Sydney pothole.

Bugger! But at least that stuff can be replaced.

So is the armrest in a comfortable position with it dropped 4"? I can't imagine you sit a full 100mm lower than standard in those seats?

Yeah, new outer ring is $165.
Ill get that happening on payday.

As far as the console goes, for me sitting in the car its prob slightly low, if you lean over its perfect to lean on, and while driving i am just resting my arm on it. Its quite comfortable. But then again a sit back abit too.
If you were a huge guy who sat up grandma style you might not use it it as a rest while driving.

I have repaired a wheel like that with a large hammer and soft wood, no marks or dips. Worth a go, save a few bucks.

I reckon I'm going to steal your idea and drop my console 1.5" or so, roughly anticipating where my seats will be height-wise.

I tried the council once, no luck.

I ended up using a rubber mallet, no one can tell!

My eBay chinese radiator and fan shrouds seem to be ok, but one of the fans has been blowing the fuse, and has now failed, second fan not far off.

So i upgraded to Davies Craig . . . . . and WOW!

Well worth the money compared to unknown Chinese fans . . .

Wish i did it from day 1.

You can feel the fans sucking if you put your hand on the front of the radiator.

I was crawling all around this car at the Grange.  Beautiful work all over. Much awesome wheel fitment and stance. Perfect i'd say.  Hopefully will see it another event and say hello

This is happening next!

Found a damaged original wheel, repaired it, painted it etc & fitted a new Rare spares horn assembly.

as I get older, starting to appreciate the original stuff abit more, nothing looks better than the SLR wheel!

hope I can get used to the large wheel again, after a small sports one.

Long Time - No Post!

I wasnt happy with the rear Sachs shocks, just swapped them out for Koni red Adjustables to suit the lowered ride height.

It was a bugger to change because the backing plate to shock stud clearance meant i had to unbolt everything.
