I also had abit of a play with the boot today.
The boot lid never sat flat on the drivers side, it turned out I had a bent hinge so I got one from another car.
I also went looking for some badge holes but didnt find one!
so now the question is........
No badges, single torana badge, or T O R A N A boot lettering ????????????????

Jobs completed:
hidden HQ Bonnet cable fitted,
Boot hinges fitted, those boot hinge spring rods were a real bugger to get in.
Lucky i didnt lose an eye!
Bent hinge going in the scrap bin.

I hope to have it painted before christmas so I can put it all back together then. Going to keep the A9X style scoop- it is a torana after all. I'm going to nutsert the bonnet with m4 inserts so it will be easy to take off the scoop and still be tidy if i leave the scoop off.

Got some UC Upper control arms (from a forum member).
Spent the night stripping them, they're now ready to rebuild...............part of my plan to empty my front end over the bin........

Ive got another set of LH Lower control arms, so I can swap the whole front suspension out.
After stripping all of the bushes and ball joints I dropped into my old workshop and hot-tanked and sand blasted all of the components.
I've also painted them
Saturday morning I pressed in all new Nolathane bushes.

great work mate, will be nice to see when its done! sorry this is kind of off topic but do you mind if i ask how the T5 gearbox is holding up? have you had anything done to beef it up?
Posted 04 November 2013 - 06:18 PM
Can I also ask which headers you have used and which engine mounts? I have HQ mounts and a T5 as well, and want to know which headers you have used and how much stuffing around they needed.
Great work on the rust repairs, looks factory.

Cheers guys, abit of encouragement is always appreciated!
I haven't had any dramas with the T5. I used to do silly things with this car (ive had it since I was on my P's) ive done 3rd gear rev dumps at 6000rpm and its still holding together LOL. saying that ive broken axles twice, and exploded the rear uni.
Its a Stock T5, just has a Cosmo ripshifter.
I used Pacemaker extractors. I cant remember what part no, but the description was to suit VL commodore with VN heads, block hugger, and the primary pipes are 1 3/4" instead of the normal 15/8 as ive got a decent cam and abit of headwork.
I got an exhaust shop to cut off the final collector and he redid the bottom section with a 3" collector and it clears the sway bar (rear mounted) nicely.
I hope this helps guys!!!!!!
