Beauty, thanks Steve.

@S pack Hi Dave.you wouldn't have any diagrams showing the measurements to the lc-lj 6cyl lca's floating around at your joint.these are pretty much bent.are they completely flat?Attached File  20220428_135142.jpg   718.91K   6 downloads

Hi Maz, I'll have a gander at the LC workshop manual a little later and let you know but yes the underside of the ball joint socket area should be in the same plane as the adjacent area of the arm.

Yours has had a hard life.

Hi rob.they have been polished bud.i can still see what must b machine marks.in some areas.they have been polished assembled and can see where they have been..id expect a better job than that.to polish was 190 i think.they look good butvthats all i can say about them at this stage.im not keen to disasemble to clear them would look shit if it starts to fade and come off as would have to light sand them for the clear to stick..

Yeah, I personally wouldn't think about clearing them, particularly if polished, it will look awful once it starts failing.
Anodising would be more realistic. But just polish them and wax them every now and then to give them a bit of protection from oxidation.

Can understand not wanting to pull them apart.

The alloy on my Harley, the fork tubes in particular were polished then cleared.

A lot less work to keep them shiny than constant polishing.

Good thing is, the polish before painting doesnt have to be perfect.

The clear takes out a lot of imperfections.

Yeah, once the clear gets pitted, and the moisture gets under it and the alloy starts oxidising, they can look crap.

The forks on a bike take a lot more punishment in terms of chips than the hinges would.

My forks started to show signs around 20000km of clear failure.

But normal cleaning and polishing kept them looking good.

Mr Sheen was a great trick in keeping surfaces protected.

But I had to put the bike in storage for a couple of years while I was working away, and the neglect made the forks look crap.

But a couple hours stripping them, polishing them again and clear coat made them look good again.

Paint has stayed adhered to the polished surface without issue.

Cheers

Rob

I was going to get them anodised but thought abit of bling
under the hood would break up the black enginebay more.

I Went down to see goody at brighton to blast the kframe but when i got there it looks like he hasnt been there for while so i will take them in to total surface protection in derwent park near the incats.i will try and bend the lower control arms flat before i take them in.messaaged fabricator Damon gregory to get the front discs drilled out and he will also weld on the plates for the lca's.havnt asked him yet but i will get him to setup the 2jz in the bay and fab up some engine mounts?..get the car level and get the donk on the correct angle and see if the firewall will need any work done to it.

The lca strengthening plates came this morning and just got a messge from tnt that the 7/8 willwood master will b here in a week..not sure if i should order the s71 rims yet as i dont know what the clearance will b to rim,i guess to b on safe side is to order the meduim pad height rims.

frOck it..i will keep it and get it painted same color as the engine bay.ordered the front rims.ended up going 15x4.the 17x4 will most likely perch the vehicle up at the front.i couldnt find i small tire for it..theres quite a few choices running the 15s.

Peter nash has finished the steering column..woohoo..man hes a busy man..i might purchase some lovells springs through rares the same ones i got for the lc.dunno on shocks yet.maybe some 60/40 90/10 adjustables..cant wait to have the front under and rolling...oh. whos good at recoeing the front steering rack.

Cheers maz

Pics of the rebuilt steering column Peter Nash has done for me..looks pretty good and im very happy with it.he is very fair on cost to rebuild aswell.was below what i was expecting.if anyones interested ,hes your man..hes pretty busy right now so you might have to wait awhile but its worth it..

Picking up the kframe from blasters on fri and will b dropping that off at gonzo's nxt week along with the rotors hes gonna drill out to chev pattern for me.i really cant wait to see what the ol girl will look like when the front cheese cutters are on.getting some standard springs and once donk is in with a bit of weight over the front i will b able to see how much if anything i will have to get the springs set to the height i want..dont want her pointing to the clouds..Attached File  Screenshot_20220623-025135.jpg   493.02K   7 downloadsAttached File  Screenshot_20220623-025236.jpg   429.44K   6 downloadsAttached File  Screenshot_20220623-025314.jpg   569.73K   3 downloads
