Can't really identify it from my wiring diagrams, would it be the trans kick down wire, my car is a modified auto to manual.

I saw that one, not too sure why it would be routed thru the engine bay though...just looked in my manual.

This is the wire I am looking at, doesnt seem to have a purpose in my engine bay.
(manual V8 application)
I am pretty sure the wiring connector above the engine disconnect plug (with the twin pink and brown wire) is for the fuel economy vacuum switch that I have never seen installed on any LX Torana.

Mystery is all cleared up, see the wiring picture, looks to be the kickdown solenoid wiring connector.
Why its routed through the engine bay dont know, thought it better to go through the floor with the other trans wiring.
So thanks for helping out Kirk, appreciate it.
Also thanks Brad, as that wiring isnt used now but would make the perfect choice for my tacho wire (there isnt one in my loom), runs though the loom already, your input was also very helpful.
Brad did your SL/R 5000 have a dedicated tacho wire in the loom? That may be the case for a sports dash fitted car perhaps?

Yep mine has a dedicated brown wire for the tacho. It's a singular plug on the back of the tacho/cluster. Not part of the main cluster wiring.

Just packed all the stuff up in garage for the day but now you mention a dedicated wire for the tacho already part of the loom I will go have another look.....

A little probing and I have found the tacho brown wire in with that fuel economy vacuum switch connector.
Thanks Brad for the help on that one, located the cluster side wire as well.
Brad can you remember if the contacts in that connectors mating plug are a standard non insulated type, looks a bit different?

And then it would be where?
Runs across the fire wall to the space between the master & engine (within the loom) and then runs out to the master (on it's own).
