hello all

i have a holden 308 getting built that i will need to buy a clutch for

it is a pull type clutch fork and bellhousing (i am fitting into my torana with mods to pedal to run full cable)

the bellhousing and fork came from a red 253 out of a HZ 1 tonner.

i have included a pic of the thrust bearing i pulled of the 253 clutch

when i look at pics of the clutch kit i think i need to buy the bearing looks different ??? do the forks take different types of bearings??

i am trying to find a clutch for it  and have been given a part number R117N (Clutch industries) will this fit

can someone please steer me in the right direction

The bearing you have pictured is the Commodore style one VN on 263mm clutch suits a T5 gearbox

It comes in a couple of different lengths to get the position right

And is used with the pull type cable fork as you say

The R117 has the wrong bearing from memory (255mm clutch)

Try the VN Commodore version R377 or equivalent Exedy unit (I prefer the Exedy) GMK-6334

Pic of the fork would be nice

That looks like the one I was thinking of

Theres 2 little rubber "bullets" in the fork where the bearing sits

Make sure they are there... can still buy from Holden... or the bearing will rattle in the fork

Looks like a Commodore VN-VS style clutch is needed

But check with your clutch shop... take fork etc with you to confirm

Your flywheel will take the big clutch once machined face to clean it up

All had same bolt pattern regardless of 240 255 or 263mm clutch fitted

253 used 240mm , 308 used 255 and later cars used the Chev cover @ 263 but all bolt up the same.
