What a great bunch of guys who showed up today and helped

Mostly Torana guys but a couple of facebook friends aswell

The day started with this

P9230004_zpsc0b54169.jpg

As you can see theres a little tree sitting over the shed

Over the years it seemed to have gotten heavier and started to cause abit of this

P9230008_zps3d0be852.jpg

Tree actually comes from the neighbour behinds properly.. .and dangles over 6m of shed and has at times touched the ground on my side

P9230015_zps44da6b72.jpg

We thought it best to start with the wooden (poergola) out the front... so the boys soon got that down

P9230016_zpsf03e3d0b.jpg

P9230019_zps34cd3097.jpg

P9230020_zps6b535f3c.jpg

Then it was off to removing the wall cladding

P9230022_zps73330527.jpg

P9230025_zps0a337d98.jpg

P9230029_zpsd915f938.jpg

We then called a meeting to discuss removal of the roller door

P9230037_zpsc5d4c421.jpg

Which then seemed to fall down with some sledgehammer help.

P9230049_zps7befcf54.jpg

Then we started on the insulation... the rats were building igloos in the roof cavity

P9230058_zpsa29bc9c9.jpg

P9230059_zpsaf4b2e3d.jpg

But I think they moved out when the tree broke thru the roof and flooded their abode

P9230060_zps71ef29ef.jpg

Cladding off we decided to bring the shed down gradulally to fall on itself ... pancake style

P9230071_zps91173e1e.jpg

Abit of tree to think about though

P9230078_zpsc8b1b238.jpg

Vern brought his 'tool of the day'

The reciprocating saw... which I had actually gone to buy earlier in the day but time was against me.

So Vern saved us alot of work with this very effective tool

Many cuts were made and the roof was brought down.... safely

P9230098_zps7b8c8233.jpg

P9230101_zps97c9ed39.jpg

Till Dave did his thing and brought it all down in 1 swoop of the sledge scaring the shit out of himself I think

P9230118_zps15af8f49.jpg

He left me enough to swing the final blow so I could at least think I did it

P9230119_zps23514bbb.jpg

1 pancaked shed

P9230120_zps780049cc.jpg

Now its up to the tree loppers to do their thing

Then we can remove the roof sheet and prepare the site for the new shed

P9230129_zpsf146d345.jpg

I'd truely like to thank these blokes.. .they are legends and I definatly couldn't have done it without them

Believe it or not I had an enjoyable day, and it was a pleasure to help Datto.

I'm glad I came back to see the moment it came down, it was a very satisfying moment.

Well done guys awesome job. Remind me never to plant one of those monsters.

Its good to put a face to the guys I talk to on a regular basis. Early on in the pics I was sure the guy with the high vis was Dave I (Torypower). Then I thought I was wrong when the other Dave brought the shed down in one foul swoop and then at the end of the pics my initial guess turned out to be right :)

Datto is a lot younger than I'd imagined. Steve seemed to be doing most of the work even though he is the smallest and Richo obviously doesnt do this kind of work offen wearing runners is a big no no.   :spoton:

john
it was a fantastic effort by all
i'd only met neil on a couple of occasions previously
and when i picked up a steering coupling rubber from him at work
got talking about his shed
so i put it out there on the forum
and the guys came through
vernon with the magic saw came over to pick up an engine from neil
and stayed for 4 hours
and saved the day
nobody asked what they could do they just did it!
blown away by the size of that tree
now the shed is flat the roof sheeting is almost totally covered
by that monster, now a job for the tree loppers
before we can return
great forum when people who you don't really know all pitch in!
cheers

I believe its called a Japanes pepper tree or something like that

And you don't want one in your yard... or your neighbours yard even !!

I'm blown away by the efforts.. .and as Dave said... no-one needed to be told what to do... they just did it

Vicki (the sandwich maker) was in awe... every time she came out to feed the boys some water or take pics she was amazed at how much was getting done and how fast

And without endless car banter slowing us down

Was great to have a beer with you boys after

Swarbs is putting on the next carton for the cleanup after the tree lopper have been I believe

I've run out of Blondes

Thanks again to those that came.. and those I know would have been here if they could

Can't wait to have something to contribute to the 'shed thread' when its finished... whoohooo

We were Laborer's,

In the 5 1/2 hours I was there We all must of done a combined 500 trips to the verge with Steel sheeting, Jarrah, Tree Branches, Roller Door with the Ute having see through sheeting and Trailer having Rubbish, Timber, Foam, Insulation, Water Bottles and Last but not Least, a Container to collect all the Sheeting Screws, Great Time. Dave I

How to deal with a parent tree
A “tree and blackberry killer” type of herbicide is the only
effective treatment for killing the parent tree. Follow the
instructions on the label carefully. Given time, the poison
travels to the suckers and, once all are dead, the parent
can be felled. Felling any large tree should be left to a
tree removal specialist who has the proper equipment
and, importantly, the proper insurance cover.

Name your poison and we'll sort it out :spoton:

If i couldn't be there only too glad to help even if it is with a couple of coldies

Well done fella's and good on you Dave Mc for throwing it out there

When i was last there Datto told me of the plans to tear it down and start afresh  - that fgucken tree is awsome

Be a good inspiration once the new one is up to make a solid start on one of the cars (which one?)

Whats the plan with the shed as in size wise Neil?  - i seem to remember there was some restrictions (or i may be thinking of somewhere else)

7.5m deep and 13m wide Dave

Council says no bigger than 100 sq m pad area... so went with the biggest I could

3m high walls and 15 degree pitch should give me enough room for some mezzanine and a 2 poster

As for which car is first

I have to do an auto conversion on Mrs VC Commodore as she won't drive a manual.. some brake repairs , coat of paint then she's out the door

Then I can sort out that sedan I got the seats and door trims off you for.

Once thats finished and sold I can start the hatch

Might be a datto turned into a racecar and a new coat of shiney on the Cadillac in there somewhere though

I went 11 degrees on my shed, should have went the full 22 that was available.

My mezzanine could have held more spares

Well done guys, a big thumbs up for teamwork. :spoton:

I'de be sorting out the neighbour and his feral tree before putting up the new shed or you will have the same problem with the roof down the track.

Keep the pics coming, you know how much we love pics.

Tree loppers are sheduled for next week Mort

They are taking the tree out and grinding the stump so this will never happen again

The tree owner is keen for its removal too and he's paying

I will put in $1000 as I want it gone and a little financial incentive can't hurt

Quote to remove tree.

$3570 + gst if the shed was in place

$800 off if the sheds not there.
