never seen this engine run. Ive sourced another pump a JP highflow pump for $100 i'll wack that on 2morow and if its still no go then sump is coming off

Have you checked to see if your 202's pump has a pressure relief valve spring fitted or valve may be stuck open.

If the engine was running ok before, and all that has changed is the pick up, then there's the problems
My holden book quotes 310kpa max oil pressure @. 1500

 never seen this engine run.

6 pints for motor

1.5 pints when changing filter

a pint equates to 900 ml.

so 7.5 pints which is about somewhere about 6.75 ltr .

just have checked the book and i think that you need to make an allowance for the oil filter as they are listed different points in the book.

G

1 pint = 568ml

1quart=946ml

On the front of the pump is a 3/4" bolt head, which is the pressure relief valve, make sure that the plunger is free moving & that it has a spring between the bolt & the plunger.

I stripped it down last night and let it sit in petrol to clean everything out. plunder removed and cleaned.

Iam hopeing its just due to not enough oil

If its got more than about 2lt in it it will likely still get oil pressure, hopefully the pump fixes it for you, and if the guage you are using is mechanical have you double triple checked the capillary line??

Cheers.

Check the pressure relief valve piston isn't binding in it's bore and sticking in the open position.

Yeah, they dont automatically shut off like new engines....They will go for some time with no pressure, just does shit tonnes of damage.

50psi at start sounds good/on the high side, so chances are your issue is in the pressure relief valve.

Cheers.

well fitted another pump a JP std pump....... still no pressure so after alot of bad words i ripped the sump off to get the pick up off.

Took it off and shoved it in a buckt of water and blew into it. No air bubbles but what coming out of the filter. Only thing i can see is the flare fitting seems slightly push in on one corner which id say is allowing air to get in. Either way iam not putting that pick up back in
