Hi just wondering if anyone has dealt with Hemco Ind in Ballarat? I know they do seatbelts, and have suggested they may not be able to re webb mine as this is not a service they usually provide. Will require me making the trip for them to assess the belts.

Cheers

Yep years ago. Took my harness out to them to be shorted and re stitched.
Just walked in. No hassles at all. Didnt even charge me to cut and stitch 4 ends.

This maybe stupid.
What do u mean rewebbed.?

I'm talking about having the belts replaced entirely. I know they won't be the original style but I don't care too much.

Neil they were my first option but I'm looking at $40 dollars a belt as apposed to $150. But the only catch is they re chrome the buckles and brackets and all that sort of stuff.

Though I'd still like to retain the original buckles and what not.

Does seatbelt solutions use old style webbing?

Hey Jacob I spoke to one of the guys at seatbelt solutions the other day. They offer what they call concourse webbing which has the horizontal weave as per the original style however their webbing is australian standards compliant unlike some other suppliers. They also load test the belts once they are done so you know they are safe. They can re webb and test in a couple of days but the chrome and anodize of the buckles takes 6-7 weeks as they send it out to a third party.

I have an old set that I will be sending off to seatbelt solutions shortly. Do you know if the front seatbelt in a coupe is the same length as a four door? Just want to be sure I'm doing the right belts before forking out all that cash.

They seem to do really good work according to feedback from various forum members.

Seatbelt Solutions belts are the shiz.

Out of everything i've brought for my blue car i think the belts from them would be right up there with the best quality work for the price outlayed.

Cheers.

Steve depends where they mount... Coupe mount is further back towards the boot, but I'm not 100% someone will have to confirm. Perhaps you have enough adjustment in the belt to make it a non issue.

And yeah I don't doubt the best but for $500+ a bit expensive for me in my current economic climate. Also they don't tap out any dints and what not so it might be a better idea to take buckles to my plater as he can get them straigh AND chrome them. I think they won't even touch your belts if they are not of a certain quality

Thanks Bomber that's reassuring before I hand over $1k+.

Yeah I will check with them Jacob hopefully they can confirm the correct length of the front seatbelt.

Not a bad idea getting the buckles plated first. Might save some cash too.

And time... I'm pretty sure they won't touch crappy buckles too, keep that in mind. What's the 1k for?

Steve,

Photo and specify the details of your belts don"t assume that SS know all about Torana Belts.

They mucked mine up big time I had to return them to be redone even after I had written out and labelled each one, they put the belt out the back of the buckle brisbane style on Adelaide buckles and had the lengths wrong, LC'S instead of LJ and the tounges would not clip in as the caps were bent. On return after reworked some parts were not my originals.

They fell short of my expectations of a seatbelt experts.

Oh geez that's a shocker, thanks for the heads up Graham.  Sorry to hijack your thread Jacob ;)  Graham do you have the details of the length that the front Adelaide (Rainsford belts) should be?  I have a set but not sure if they are from a two or four door.

Jacob below is what I was quoted for a full resto:

Re-Webb lap sash belts front and rear $125 x 4.

Re-Webb lap rear center belt $90.

Chrome / Anodise buckles $100 x  5.

Did not quote on anodizing the seat belt ends / eyes, so probably looking at about $1100 to $1300ish for a total resto.

They suggested posting them the belts so they can properly quote the job.  I might do as you suggested and speak to my local plater and do the buckles and ends then send them off to be webbed.  Might work out a bit cheaper.

Steve.

Jesus Christ almighty I thought it was 150 each including plating. Definitely cant justify that right now so i will be doing them all on bits come winter time and the cars off the road. That shocked the hell out of me. But then again if you have the cash why not, shitty seat belts really do ruin a car. Considering your car is going to be of a high standard I would go for it.

And hijack away it's a good read

Because mines not original i just opted for there generic chrome buckles with the $10 Holden insert option.

99.99% of punters wouldnt pick it, and they look 10,000x better than the shitty commo speck plastic klippan jobs.

Retractable front, non retractable rear and center lap sash set me back about $900 with postage.

Probably the best $900 i have spent on that particular car.

When it comes to the HB i will be a lot fussyer though, so may end up more expensive.

Cheers.

Steve,

I did a check o'nite and came up with,

LC 2 door measured at 1.94 / 1.95 fronts and 1.87 backs bolt hole to bolt hole with 0.27 to the adjuster. Buckle strap at 0.37 / 0.38. LC's have a different large  thick plate adjuster for the fronts.

LJ fronts 2.15? but I have two at 2.21 /2.22? Adelaide buckle

Sedans 1.80 /1.81f and 175 / 1.78 b. Brisbaine buckle.

I would suggest you PM "Lona CK" john is the guru on all thinks LC.

Have a good look at stitching and weave patterns colour matches, as belts can be easily swapped around and mismatched over the life of these cars. I am still not sure mine are 100% correct.

Length to the aduster  I have measured at 0.16 / 0.17,0.22,0.27,0.29 and 0.32? a large variance!

The belts may have had a large variance from original dependant on year and belt manufacture? I have looked at promotial photos and I see differences in these.

G.

You are an absolute star thanks Graham that puts me in the right direction. Understand your point in regards to the variances. My car was a rolling shell so didn't come with belts so I found a front set, and later found a rear set. All Rainsford LC era but your right there were probably many production variance. At least now I can measure them and have some idea if they are out of a 2 or 4 door. Thanks again.

I suppose it doesnt really matter as they are being re webbed. Just give them the right measurements and you will get the right amount of material? Just be weary of LJ buckles and adjusters

Well no one is cheaper. I think seatbelt solutions will run over 1k or close to for the set. And this seems to be inclusive of re chroming and such?

Seems pretty good. Like i said you could go to someone like hemco but you would have to get everything else done on your own.
