mark my words, those front springs will be 6 cylinder springs, maybe even inch low six's
i'd pull them out, mark them down for sale and get some V8 HD standard height lovells.
Any way Mark, let mark & i know how you go

There is one in every crowd....
No worries Mark, will do. Sorry have been interstate with work all week, havent had much time to check in or go near the car. Today i rebuilt the calipers with a new seal kit. Man, there was so much gunk in both i am surprised the brakes were even working. I now need to do the rears just for piece of mind... With the new master cylinder i should at least have a clean brake system now.

I think if you lift the front up a bit the back should be fine.
Could you do me a favour Mark and measure the free standing height of the original old springs you pulled out of it if you still have them please ?
Sorry for the delay. The freestanding height of the original springs is exactly 13 inches (330mm).
I ran into a snag, with the bleeder screw cross threading on one caliper so I needed to drill and tap the caliper and install the "bleed screw repair kit" which was a fairly easy process. Repair kit $15, suitable ta plus Locktite sealant $23. Now I have a different size bleeder nut for each of the front calipers.....
I went for my first proper test drive on the weekend. Upon arriving back home and driving onto the lawn nature strip, I drove over a minor undulation and the suspension movement was enough for the cross member to hit the grass!
I will have a set of Lovells 6 cylinder lowered springs for sale soon (front and back full set).

OK, so I was preparing the original Holden springs for a coat of paint and I noticed a very distinct red painted marker on them. Can anyone shed any light on whether this indicates the spring rate/model etc?
