G'day,

I've started stripping off the paint from my floor pans. Drivers side is really good, passenger side not so flash with quite a bit of pitting and few rust holes of up to 5mm across. Hard to get a good pic, but this is the passenger side rear. Red circles show rust holes and the green is a piece of bog. Have gone over this with a wire wheel. I'm wondering at what point you would move from fixing what's there to replacing the whole pan? I've got myself a KBS chassis coat kit, was looking to at least tidy up what's there in the meantime with that, until I get myself a MIG and clock up some practice before using it properly...

Cheers,

Jules.

I agree not worth changing floor pans cause of that. Go to two steps.of KBS - rustblast until you have Miged the holes up. save the rustseal/chasis coater until then as you would have to clean the surrounding area to weld.
Otherwise leave them bare.

Yes just weld up holes or use small metal patches. Being the rear pan you can't just buy replacements easily.

Thanks guys. The MIG may be a way off yet, just starting to research that. Have attached a pic of the passenger side front pan too, which is the worst one. Very pitted and around half a dozen holes of a few mm diameter, after hitting with wire wheel. Feels pretty solid overall, but looks a bit ordinary. Have only given this pan a rough going over so far, need to strip it right back. Pillar needs a bit of work too. What do you reckon about this one? Expecting drivers side to be pretty good, paint still on that side atm though.

Cheers.

Is it just me or does it seem like the 4 cylinders got a better coating of red oxide primer on the floors? I don't think those holes are worth worrying about either. As others have said spot them up with a mig :spoton:

cheers

Jules do you have a friend who may have a mig, saves buying one at the moment and you can get some practice in on the pin holes you have till you buy your own and get stuck into the bigger problems, if any.
