I just went and bought a floor mat. Looks really nice but its too good to walk on.
They also sell a matching set of 4 drink coasters in a metal tin for $9.99, so bought that at well.

Fluor lights do put out uv rays and will fade/ alter the color of things over time.
You can by tubes that the fluor globe goes in with end caps for the 2 pins each end that stop the uv from the globe and just allow the light itself to come through.
There also great for when u brake a globe by mistake. They hold all the glass etc in so there is no clean up.
We use them at work over our machines.
