There's a crazy one-eyed whale hunter lurking around here somewhere...

LOL

I know the guy he is a big Torana hatch nutcase but he is indeed half mad. His passion and mission in life is to hunt and rid the world of fat oversized whales.  :stirpot:

Well I decided I would update and get one of the last of the locals. Should see me right for the next few years.

So this is the new practical car!

Who would have thought that in their dying days Holden would offer a 550hp sub 90k beast with a 5 year/175,000km warranty.
I'm sure gonna miss them.

Hopefully you won't need four doors the next time you trade up Rexy. The options are going to be very limited.

I am fighting back against the sea of blandly coloured cars out there.
Even so, I'm not sure I could have bought the bright mint green non metallic version I saw in my travels.

I know!
I went and sat in a few things and none had the space and comfort this does. I can't bear to drive a SUV or similar.
With any luck this will be as good as my old SS that I kept for a decade.

I thought about getting a GTS-R but couldn't see the value in the extra 45 K it would have cost. Nice car but I have no need for brakes bigger than the ones on this and the MRC suspension doesn't fuss me either. Not sure the power difference is relevant to me.
Missed opportunity?

Plenty of them still looking for a home.

I wonder about the brakes in the GTS. The Brembo's in the Redline will take on any spirited back road driving (and I've done a bit) without any sign of fade or a spongy pedal, and the feel is fantastic. The massive calipers on the GTS could really only come into their own when doing multiple race track laps at race car speed.

Always thought it looked close to the old Tiger Mica.

Finally found one to park next to for a comparo.

Not much difference allowing for time affecting the old girls colour.

It is Tiger Mica with a new name.  :spoton:

That was the sh!t when it came out, very popular, same with that hothouse green or whatever it was called.

And then that dark blue on theVT's

Problem is when everyone has one that colour, you get a bit sick of it.

I reckon yours will be a standout in years to come due to the popularity of it in the 90's and its lack of popularity now.

Looks pretty good to me.

Reading Wheels COTY story the other day, they were saying that "Light My Fire" was the second least popular colour with "Spitfire" being the least. About one third of all VF2 HSVs are white.  People go nuts over a Deauville Blue or Jade Green Torana because they were so unpopular back in the day.
