LEGAL RACE/STREET SEAT INDEX

Hi All, is now Time for a Seat thread,

some will like to keep there seats as they were Standard.

Was looking around for Light Weight ADR Street Legal Seats for Stinga's Car, or for our Torana's,

and found these links to Similar Threads here on the GMH-TORANA site:-

https://www.google.c..._sm=93&ie=UTF-8

Ken UFO304,

has some very nice Seat's here:-

http://www.gmh-toran...ts-help-needed/

So what Seats are you using, as Neil has his eye's on these for the Dat:-

classic_cs_frt.jpg - $449 and no weight yet

http://www.motorspor.../classic_cs.htm

Lighter seats = More economy and power to weight ratio.

Recaro's have been around for Donkey's years and there are more Brands on the market now,

so what we are looking for, is easy to fit and cheaper for our pocket, light weight ADR approved Seats for our Car's.

When putting your Seats up here,

can you put the Weight and Cost of the Seat/s too, if you can, so I can put them into Order.

Also, we need the Weight's of all the standard Torana Seats for comparison's too.

All suggestions to make the file better are welcomed. Dave I

Too get this thread started:-

I know these are not Drivers Seats, but here is the LC SL 4 Door Rear Standard Seats:-

Attached File  IMG_4750.JPG   35.87K   5 downloads

the Back weigh's - 7.6 kg's

and the Base weigh's - 7.1 kg's

will round up or down to the nearest Kilo for the Index.

also the - will link the post of the entry, and the link at the end of the Seat type, will be the picture once the Thread is going.

So now we have a weight to better if needed and will start with up to 30 kg's unless some heavier ones come along:-

Hi,
Replaced the drivers seat in the LJ with this.
I didn't weight it, but can say that it weighed less than the original LJ seat...like much MUCH less.
However, I tried to find it's weight on the Sparco website.....what a mess....gave up.

Good seat for the track, not so nice on road.

Like all this stuff..it really comes down to your budget..think the seat was appx $450 and the required brackets were appx $80.pr.
Makes an immense difference on the track, compared to the slippery slidey standard one.

Hi Col,

is yours a Sparco Sprint V, because that one is 8.3kg.

It also seems the different Sparco models are between 8 and 9 kg's. Dave I

I just don't see weight as that much of an issue. Holden ones may be heavy but mine are 35+ years old and would probably last another 35 without much trouble.

I am more interested in:-

1) availability - for instance on another thread someone says Rex seats are good. But I've never seen one in our wreckers here. There are plenty of other Subarus of similar vintage however.

2) adaptability - self explanatory. The easier the better.

3) suitability - height, width, good for big blokes and small, tall, short etc

4) quality - some Jap seats are made of recycled Coke cans, cardboard and balsa wood. Very light but prone to self destruction. The old 200B seats come to mind.

5) comfort - for long distance driving and support in corners. That for me is the primary reason I wish to change my seats.

Once they're in there weight is basically irrelevant, within reason.

.

Very well said Mark,

So it is Support, Comfort and the Weight Factor,

all I am trying to do here, is to see where the Best Seats Lie in conjunction to each other, and to see all the different kinds of seats out there here in the 'Seat Weight Index'. Dave I

These are legal. Recliner Sparco r505.

These have been replaced with the r600 and weight 20kg - so by no means a lightweight race seat, but I thought you might be interested to see.

I'm also a pretty large bloke and they seem to fit my hips.
