G'day Guy's, does anybody know the type of paint and how to paint the thin silver pin stripes on the various dash parts.

Thanks Glen

Hi Glen,
A lot of guys use the metallic silver pens and they're quite easy to use and get straight lines.
The actual original finish is that chrome stuff but don't know any one who has achieved that quality.

You could try airbrushing it. This Is what I am going to do when the time comes.

Some of the paints nowdays for plastic modelling are spot on for this.

I think we need a thank you button. Great idea's guy's.

With air brushing, I take it that everything else needs to be masked ( a hell of a job that )

Been thinking about the masking.

For LH/LX I would spray the silver strip first. Then mask over the part you want to keep.

Then spray the main silver (portland grey). Then mask it off as well before spraying the black bits.

Fiddly and would hate to have the paint lift when removing the masking.

Is the silver edge the same for the silver dash in the SS and the woodgrain in the SL? I'm fairly sure my SS  dash hadn't been touched until I painted it and the silver edge was more like a silver paint almost the same as you get out of one of those pens. But the woodgrain ones I have seen have more of a chrome look to them. From all the ones on ebay I've looked at I haven't seen a silver one with the chrome edge. This is for LX anyway.

Yeah I'm probably wrong but just thought it odd I've seen quite a few original woodgrain ones with the chrome edge but haven't seen an original SS dash with the same bright chrome.
