I think it won't be on the diagram because it came out mid way through the production run on LX's when ADR 27a came into effect.

Part of the pollution control changes.

Mine is a 6/76 pre ADR 27A it has the wire for the kickdown in the loom.

Scroll down through this thread and there is a picture of this pesky wire.

Yep. We can fit that auto into your car to give that wire something to do. Actually, if it goes to the accelerator it would be a handy wire for NOS systems. Or to shut off the AC during full throttle.  Or to light up a sign in the back window that says "HA HA Ford Loser!!"

Did you sort it out?

Mine is a manual so this wire will just be taped to the loom, not connected.
Still trying to work out the connector next to the engine disconnect plug (see picture).
It has a brown wire, tachometer signal pretty sure, and a double pink which I have no idea of what that Is for.
I can only guess its for emission solenoids or the like. 6/76 car have idle stop solenoid?

I also had that plug. It went to fuel enconamy vacume switch. The brown wire goes to a fuel enconamy warning light in the dash. The double pink supply's power to the switch but continue on to the headlight relay. So if u want to get rid of the plug u can ditch the brown wire but the double pink has to be kept and kept conected to each other. I just pulled it out of the plug, taped it up and taped it into the loom.

Awesome, the pink loops to the headlights relay, I see it on my wiring diagram now. The brown I will use for the tachometer, I think this is what factory may do because the economy light and tachometer were never available together.

Excuse the hijack of the thread guys, back to the initial subject.....
