Hey guys want to replace the old clock with a tacho, is there anywhere i can source one or will i have to get a whole cluster?
Checked the usual auction sites and only full clusters going, usualy very pricy and in unknown working condition...

Getting the whole unit would be your best bet.

Or graft in an aftermarket one as others have.

$400-500 is the eBay money, however in saying that, if you use your own speedo you can sell the SLR 200kph speedo for $100, this is what i did
You will need to run 1 wire from coil neg to tacho . If you want to use the other gauges you will need to change oil sender unit and temp sender

Sometimes you will find a tacho only come up on evilbay.

Saw one a month or so ago. NOS apparently. Think it went for about 200.

With used sets, there is a toroid. Little round thing with lots of turns of hair sized wire.

Its glued to the board.

The glue has now virtually disintegrated and the little thing falls off breaking its wires as well.

But the good news is you can still buy a new toroid. Bad news is trying to find where it connected.

you have to modify the white part of the dash that holds the tacho if you put it in a standard cluster. The tacho dash has a cutout where the tacho pokes through.
