Hi Ugur,

350 is too small, and it all depends on your Motor's breathing if the webers will do any better for you, but yes, a 500 Holley or Triple Webers. Dave I

14 second 1/4 is your target

then do the mod's to do better

first thing, is a huge ported head ( my 9 port is opened up 14mm x 4mm from standard ), 44cc chambers or less, and 308 valves, could cost $1000 just for that, from there will be easy. Dave I

Would a two barrel 500 holley fit on the same inlet manifold as a two barrel 350 holley?

Oh and would a four barrel be any better than a two barrel as far as performance goes?

Sounds like you had the wrong colour speedo gears.

I would worry more about stopping and going around corners unless you live on a salt lake or on the 90 mile straight on the nullabor

To be blunt, 2-2500 isnt really enough money to even bother starting.

As above rebuild the brakes and suspension, forget webbers they will cost you more than your total budget.

What carb do you have currently?

And yes a 500 bolts on to a 2bbl manifold, and yes a 465 vac sec spun around 90 degrees on a proper 4bbl manifold would probably work farily well with what you have, and be cheaper than tripples.

Cheers.

My engine sounds similar to what you have. I changed from 350 Holley to triple strombergs the car now revs a lot harder and has a bit of extra pull down low. Noticeable yes, but nothing spectacular.

If I were you and your budget, I would change the camshaft and buy triple SU which are a quarter of the price of webers or strombergs. Then probably have a little left over for some port work. The webers would take up your entire budget for not a huge gain.

As bomber and Outer have mentioned though, probably better just spending some money on suspension and brakes. If you are going to put a V8 in, save your money for that down the track.

Well now Blair,

I kept up with a 350 worked Monaro, and he wasn't happy. Dave I

I was also told that I had the Fastest Torana in Newcastle,

also, I am a Fitter and Turner by trade BHP, and Mechanically Minded too.

Built my first Pushbike in 1979, which was a 45 speed, and could go anywhere, and rebuilt it in 1991, for memory purposes.

And I do know what I am talking about:-

Sounds like you had the wrong colour speedo gears.

In 4th gear I could get 143 mph without trying

5400rpm x 3.08 diff

Yeah i'd back Dave, Back in my younge rat bag days i managed a touch over 100mph in third and went past 120mph in fourth with a mild 173. With the correct colored speedo gear. Was only turning that one to 5500rpm. 2.78's in the back and tall tall rear tyres. .

Cheers.

A Big Ported Head is all you need Blair, mine is 12 x 4mm over-sized inlet ports, and 100thou shaved on a 9 port 186 head, I use the same head on all my motors, and it makes a standard short motor a Race engine every time, with my Race cam in there too mind me. Dave I

I wonder what power they have had out of a 138 motor, Turbo even, would be a Tough Block I would imagine.

must also mention, that the head had 308 cylinder head sized valves in the 186 head
