Well I'm back with another mid life crisis, I vowed that I would never re build a car from scratch again after lucky the lime green GTR.

So i after such a shit week at work and looking after some other under performing staff decided that I needed a race track fix or some sort, the race bike was up for sale. It's been a long held dream to go car racing in some sort.

I used to live at Camden and could hear the Oran park car  races from home on a quiet Sunday arvo around 3-5 pm . I was always a bike racer and not cars.and have raced at Oran park.

So with a big case of the shits with work  entered Tour Targa in the high country in November 2014, I was going to punt the GTR around and this was a very real option.

With the bike up for sale and this car up for sale the cards fell within two days of each other.

thank you to Daz and Kaz of vic who went to see the car and give me a heads up on the quality of the car and it's appearance.

I cannot work out weather is salamanca or rally red , but who gives a F#$%K , it's red of some sort  and  presentable

It's been a track car and has no rust three tags and no oil leaks and anyone who has bought a torana will realise that this is worth an extra 4000k on it's own.

So my intention in to go , regularity, super sprint's , tack days , and put onto historic rego. and just enjoy the experience of tinkering with torana's

With out further ado we now have another torana S 2 door coupe " rocket " , these pics are from the day we picked it up last weekend and the trip home.

I'll just keep you posted with our adventures and fixes to the car, the motor seems strong and it's running a celica box with a welded diff. first port of call is getting ready for Targa tour

Boys it was like the " falcon on the footy show " being hit in the head with the ball and not knowing it was coming.

I have joined the http://www.hsrca.com/ today , but last week joined the NSWRRC http://www.nswrrc.com/ as well.

so still trying to sort out a few things with the clubs. Both clubs have different things on offer but essentially the same deal in some terms.

the hsrca offers " h " plates where as the NSWRRC does not.

so the car had the mechanic go over today and the only issues were the rear slave cylinders and one brake hose. all the rest was fine.

It's back home tomorrow for the start of the tidy up on the car.

col,

thanks for the heads up on this one didn't see that one coming , i have a set of bike racing leathers but no car racing fire retardant suite !

Ok will call on this one an re check the entry details. Always costly the first time to get your stuff

Just so i'm clear on the entry details will check the following

  • standard helmet - motor bike full face helmet - will check the Aust Rules tomorrow
  • gloves -  I have bike racing gloves leather
  • Need standard fire proof suite - yes - don't have
  • leather shoes / boots - got a bid on ebay  for 99 cents on yesterday for a used set of size 9 RPM

hi again...the back one is easy....but is the front one on the engine mount area??

No  it's off the K frame support , which you bolt the engine mount too inner( sump side).

ta for the clarification on the mounting....

Re the FOSC- the requirements are on their web page, under Sup. Regs.

Don't think you need full race suit, but seems like overalls and fire retardant gloves are a must, along with ''äppropriate'' footware.

They were good to deal with at Wakefield.

Hope it all works out mate and see you there.

Col
