Over the last few months (years) there has been more than one forum argument about the holden show cars or one off design specials that have been lost from view.
My young bloke has the recent AMC copy and as i don't buy it anymore, i grabbed it for a quick look.
Lo and behold, an article by Ben Stewart on the very subject.
While it doesn't affect me more than casual appreciation for the design studio, I have liven big Al some shit over the years for his constant chase of the XU1 V8. Not for his enthusiasm, but rather his constant comments any time the conversation has any room for him to pipe up ( let it go Al !! )
Al came to mind when Barney's shirt appeared, and anytime the argument of crushing these cars is put forward , i think of Al and his constant search for his unicorn. Mainly because, involved in senior management for my latter work life, i know how management and bean counters think. From this aspect, their is no way you would crush up a billable piece of stock.
So bugger me dead when reading Ben Stewarts article, (page 82) he shows a letter to dealers asking for tenders on 35 company cars.
In the fine print it clearly says LJ82911 painted Lone Oranger, sold with 27 000 miles on the clock. The sub comment says, vehicle comes with brand new 202 after running a v8 for 18 months.
so go hard Al, the truth really is out there .
( fark me, he'll never shut up now)
