So if the orange car is still listed as stolen, if it surfaces one day, who owns It ???

The insurance company (if it was insured), the owner it was stolen from (if still with us), the person who finds it ????

What a nightmare court case that will be. Who ever has the best barrister in in our legal system wins.

Good luck to the person who may one day drive this car on our streets. 

 


My Guess

The Vic Police will go and get it and the Insurance Company that payed out on it will get it, and if they are smart and work out how Special the GTR is, then it will go to Auction to the highest bidder one would think.

Ya just can't say never happened , nah they were all destroyed ...... etc. etc.   

 

 There is no doubt that regard to the V8 LJ's ...... they were to be destroyed , well at least that's what many at GMH were told and had no reason to think otherwise ...... once they were canned as such the focus was on 'What's next !!!'

 Just worth thinking about ..... in all the articles written about these rockets , there has never been a time ( year/ month) ever given when they were 'destroyed' , the documentation that has and is being unearthed ( such as the 79 page parts list for 'Special Export Project '  35 XW7 ) along with other info has led to people having to reconsider what they have thought to be correct for a very , very long time....

 

 The Tender document clearly demonstrates that GMH still owned the orange car in Feb. of '75 , ( the rego papers show much more, but that may be talked about in more detail at a later date) ,  Barney was still owned by GMH up to July '74 and was sold with Boot floor mods , bonnet scoop , gearbox xmember spacers and a cobbled up front exhaust along with a number of other mods.........  

 

 The 350Z show car was not destroyed , it was for sale ,  Durability test cars were sold and so on .....

 

 Re the lilac/lilac monaro ...... is still exists , it's not in great shape but will be restored ..... and yes it has the same paint code as Barney but unlike Barney which was painted in Dec. '71 it was painted in Jan . '72

For sure Laz, and Barney been Sold as well by GMH just proves that nothing got Destroyed if it could be Sold, so the GTR Prototypes are out there for sure, well the Lone o Ranger (Orange) GTR was stolen in 1985 and has not been recovered, so I think after all these years it is gone, but the White and Pink GTR could be on the loose still

The only vehicles that GMH would have destroyed were the ones they had to crash test for ADR compliance. Damaged or destroyed products = lost revenue and lower profits. Yes they can write losses off against their taxation but they are still losing money.

I asked modern GMH about there in house Warranty Records for there in house cars from the 1970's, they tell me they don't have these records any more, so they say ???

They do have them for some Holdens and all Torana afaik, they just no longer understand what it all means. The LC/LJ reports sorted by PSN that are around on CD are photos of a printout from the IBM mainframe dumped onto a z-fold printer of all LC/LJ Toanas sorted by PSN that had their warranty period started. So it contains most LC/LJ. Holden today have the originals of these.

I Ment there service records for there in house cars serviced at there service garage, they say these records are long gone ???

I doubt they'd have that, would be like your local servo still having such records.

I bet you'd not reach the count of the number of L20 M40 LN VD69's you've seen on your thumbs either! Azure blue isn't all that common in HQ XX7 either. Looks awesome in the flesh on a car with blackouts. It was built very soon after the Press test fleet, but it isn't one of them as there were no L20 M40 VD69's amongst them. It is some sort of internal Company car though.
