OPTIONAL COMMENT: My Torana was experiencing excessive clutch judder, I took it to Con and it was a matter of simple adjustment. Con said you have to consider the whole system, the fork sits on a ball and many people don't adjust it, 'it's adjustable for a reason', he also said it was adjusted at the pedal itself and at the slave cylinder to give it some free play.

It's always good to take it to someone who knows what they're talking about, he said there's mobs out there that would've replaced the clutch kit and before long you'd have the same problem.

I also had Con upgrade the diff in my Mustang, change the ratio and fit in an Eaton TrueTrac.

Why does the ball need adjusting, adjusting when fitting a new clutch  I can understand or was it re-adjusted for clutch wear?

I was experiencing quite a lot of clutch judder, I was really expecting to have the clutch kit replaced. It's done about 50,000km and I was rather ecstatic to hear it was a simple adjustment.

The judder is all but gone, it did judder slightly while I was reversing. I'm really happy with it for now, only a slight issue; when I take off and release the pedal I do have to pause slightly mid travel for it to catch, it feels like I'm riding it for a bit, it may be slipping.

So did the ball need re-adjusting for clutch wear or was it incorrectly adjusted when the clutch was fitted 50 000 km's ago?

I can't say, I had the box fitted by Diff Technics and Con asked if anyone had messed around with it since installation.

In fact I did, I had a bit of judder when I took it in for a pink slip inspection many years ago @ 20,000km into the clutch life.

The mechanic said he reconditioned the master cylinder replacing the seals, I don't know whether he adjusted anything at the same time or whether it put something else out of whack and then not adjusted to make up for it but it did eliminate the slight judder at the time and was going good till recently.

As Con mentioned, it works as a whole system with more than one adjustment point and I guess he adjusted for the best result. I don't know by how much each point was adjusted.
