Good to see it went to someone who will bring the old girl back to life

I think a GTR not XU1 replica would be nice and less common

She sat in my back yard for a few years

Basic history that I know from what I was told

My brother bought it off a guy who had it for his daughter... but she was playing up so he sold it.

He sat on it for about 8 years and did nothing to it

I bought it off him and sat it in my shed for about 4 years and did nothing to it

I sold it to Ben who you bought it from when he moved to England (don't think he did much to it either)

And now hopefully she will get the love she deserves

Happy to send you some pics from when I had it if you like... since it seems the ones in my old thread don't work anymore

Hi Neil, that would be great to get some more pics I would appreciate it

GTR copy would be cool however I just love the Xu1 look. Dad had a v8 GTR in Perth when he was a lot younger.

I hope I can do the car justice with my build

The plan for the body so far is to buy and or make the panels I need.

Dad says to do the A pillar properly we will have to take off the front guards.

So when I get there I will put some rare spares GTR guards on it as well as new radiator support panel

Both sills, beaver panel and front floors just for a start.

I reckon that's going to keep me busy for a long long time and I will have to learn bucket loads but I want to give it a go with dad

I am looking forward to asking lots of questions and getting as much help from the people on forum as possible.

Judging by the time frame of how long its been sitting around I reckon it would have been stickered during the Government blitz in the mid to late nineties to get all the old cars off the road.

I used to see heaps of little Toranas in my travels, and one by one, they got canaries until they were all gone.

I was lucky because every time I got pulled over I was at work and once the constabulary saw pizza bags in the back they used to let me go, unless I was doing something wrong of course(as if).

Looking forward to see how it comes along, looks like a pretty solid base and feel free to put up more pics of the green machine.

Hi Jason,

Never seen those type of extractors, where the centre exhaust pipes curve forward first, before traveling backwards,

and the yellow could of been for a low treaded tyre at the time, bugger.

GTR Dash/steering wheel is there, good tyres, so she will come together nicely.

overall, a neat looking unit

Hi Craig love your green one great colour

Cheers.

Unfortunately it looks better in the pictures, but I still love it.

Is it just me or do the headlight surrounds look odd ?

The passenger side one appears to be missing.

Best to make that yourself James. Sometimes you can buy drip rail attached to that metal strip. Cut it out and keep the pieces. May have to go back a few layers and rebuild.

Have a look at my build threads.. Im pretty sure Ive covered that repair..The one Im doing now needs the same done.. Its easy to do..Getting the bit is the hard part. Make sure you clean/sandblast/por 15 the inner most panel.. as everything welds to that.

Once the motor was out

I dropped out the diff and the K frame so I could get it on the rotisserie to make it easier for me

to have a good look at the rust and hopefully easier to repair

Nothing like being cramped for space James, frustrating but do-able.

Marty I can relate to that I will just have to store all the parts I have taken off so far at dads workshop and concentrate on the body

I just have to work on a way to extract the paint dust etc so as not to piss off the neighbors

Yeah, you to James, you're doing a top job, very impressed.  Just get it the best you can, keep trying till it's right. You don't need to rush, you already have a hot LJ ready to cruise.

Yes, I have a spare steering column you can have that should fix your problem.

Marty
