A year ago I purchased a complete fibreglass bodykit from spoilertek and today it was time to trial fit it to my lx hatch when I couldnt believe the problems in front of my eyes.

First is the 2 piece front spoiler... it doesnt overlap in the middle...
Am i doing something wrong here??

Not sure what is going on there but you seem to be right, the rear quarter should not protrude past the rear flares;

And that gap at the front isn't right either;

The side of your front spoiler - the photo makes it look like there is some slack there - is there?

I mean, can you put them firmer against the nosecone/front fender and buy some length by any chance?

You also have to trim them for front flares - your's (like mine) are for a flare-less car hence the need to trim.

I was kindly schooled on this a while back - the schooling was in page 3 of my build thread - there are several posts/photos and so scroll down the entire page - hope this helps better explain: http://www.gmh-toran...-unknown/page-3

In addition, the below photo you can see how the front spoiler on my car is trimmed ahead of the flare;

Not much help sorry, but perhaps this shows you how they are supposed to fit.

Type 'spoilertek' into the forum's search engine and trawl through the posts.

Mixed reviews but most seem to depict there are issues with fit, quality and the like - sorry to be the bringer of bad news :(

Cheers, TB

Thanks very much TB...Been doing some searching on here...both positive and negative results on spoilertek. We have tried our best with trying to massage the the spoiler closer together to overlap but it puts the indicators way out of center. When I get time im ringing spoilertek and emailing photos to get an explanation of why these are way off. Paid $730 for a full kit im filthy.

Pretty typical of most flares these days, you just have to assume that anything you buy will need some modification. You should find that if you play around to find the best starting point in terms of positioning you won't have to do as much work to get it right (sometimes you have to ignore the bits that won't be easily seen).

I agree that it looks like the front spoiler could probably be pulled in a bit tighter at the corners, it may require some tweaking/grinding/cutting to do this.

That front spoiler has to be one of the worst quality things I've seen in a while. Terible

Tape the front flares on & then try fit the spoiler. It will give you a better idea about what is wrong & where.

where does the bolt sit inside of the brake duct of the spoiler ? . Going by the photo, if it is that far out , the bolts / bolt might not be in the brake duct anymore . It could be a way of telling what side is wrong .

As Red said its a poorly made spoiler, its too short where it should overlap and the shape there at the top where mounting screws attach is terrible. Flairs can be cut and reshaped to work ok, but would start with a better made front spoiler. Too much work to make it fit, and being new, I would through it back at them.

looks like you'll have to cut and fill it in places.

And have a look at the rear spoiler mounting bolt location.....
I cant drill a hole either left or right into the hatch lid because the bolt would be in a dicky spot on the edge of the bottom channel...

ive emailed all the photos to spoilertek to see what sort of a response I will get and then I will ring them for a refund...

I dont want to be cutting, grinding or stretching anything as I dont want to crack the paint etc once painted. I shouldnt have to do that much. Its wasting my time. Plus I dont want it to look shit.

Ive heard about some Wilsons mob for a quality bodykit could anyone shed some light??

Hi Dorzy

I have exactly the same problem with a Spoilertek front spoiler.I bought my spoiler about 8 months ago and only just tried to fit it today only to find that the spoiler dosn't overlap in the middle.Also the spoiler is very thin and which prevents to much manipulation for fear of cracking it. I was going to purchase some flares from Spoilertek but i will source them elsewhere.

Tony

Really need to send the spoiler back and get your money back. Don't think that will ever fit properly.
Try another brand. With those pics as evidence there should be no issue with a refund.
I think you will find any brand kits will need some massaging to fit.
My rare spares kit cost me close to a full week of manhours to fit up and then there is a few issues not quite right.
(30 hours @ panel shop rates...ouch)
